What is the "disco sl*t" look?

here is a video from 1978 from studio 54 , with grace jones , haltonettes , disco sluts galore

betsey johsnson show studio 54 1977 ( gia and margo hemmingway are there)

Wow, that was eye-opening for me. I never realized Betsey Johnson was designing back then and was part of the studio 54 scene. :P Thank you for the videos, they were very informative for me to understand the scene at the time. ^_^

I really like this image

When I think of Disco sl*t, I think of Bianca Jagger or Jerry Hall. I don't know what modern counterparts would apply to that. Maybe, Madonna during her Confessions on the Dancefloor phase. She was sorta disco sl*t

Madonna was totally a disco sl*t during that tour. Especially during the finale when she does Hung Up.

I thought Miley was getting into Disco sl*t territory at the TCAs the other night...A gorgeous 16 year old pole dancing on an ice cream cart- all we need now is Steve Rubel and the Village People- I can almost see the man in the moon coming down!!

lady gaga is for sure not a disco sl*t , disco sluts are sleek and seductive not loud and in your face with tackiness .

wow. she was the 1st thing that came to me at the words "disco sl*t". thanks for correcting my notion. i love this thread by the way. ^_^

I think this is total disco sl*t, Bianca Jagger, YSL, 1974

from the fashionspot thread British Vogue March 1st 1974 : Bianca Jagger by Eric Boman

^ Oh yes!! I can almost see the Man in the Moon behind her!! I think she came in with Mick and Liza and Halston!

LOL Boomer! For me a modern disco chic (months ago the topic change was discussed)example would be Kylie Minogue during 2000-2001 when she promoted Light Years and Fever.

While Lady Ga Ga has two or three good songs and is a creative fashion person, I just don't consider her Disco Chic..

I was pondering this thread last night and back in those days I was in college from 1976 - 1980. Debbie Harry was always the epitome of disco sl*t. When a Blondie album came out we all rushed to the record shop to see the cover. As far as the Charlie angles. Well that look was very popular and not always easy to achieve... The pants/shorts had to be the right tightness and the material had this strech/thickness variable going. In earlier years singers such as Tom Jones and Robert Plant from Led Zeplin and Jim MOrrison used to dress the same with very tight pants that showed off their male member. So with the rise of "equal rights for women"/ "women's liberation" these started doing the same. Perhaps Charley's Angels were the perfect example of the archtypical "women's libber". They did everything men did. Not only they worked, but were undercover cops, They did not wear bras (men don't),they showed there genetals through "Pants"- not dresses... and they would "beat up" men...

disco sluts are always gorgeous im sorry but lady gaga doesnt fit that lol. Debbie Harry , Bianca Jagger ,Halstonettes , Jerry Hall , Charlies Angels had a more safe take on the disco sl*t . Looks wise , Debbie Harry circa 1977-78 epitomized the disco sl*t look like no other which is ironic since she was a new waver at that time.

Speaking of Debbie Harry, do you think the Stephen Sprouse Polaroids are disco sl*t?
By the way, I'm not 100% sure about the first photos being Sprouse designs.
