The Model Agency Mega Thread (January 2004 - March 2010)

I found this on the New York times website

Elite modeling agency launched model Ana Beatriz Barros's career, then she moved to Next Model Management — but now she's back at Elite, because Next reportedly wasn't all that. Of course, the agencies are now feuding. [NYP]

Model Mom said in a blind item 'would you move for $200K?"

Then she or someone else commented on how hard an agency would be working for you if they spent that kind of money on you. That was in the switching agencies thread.

I have another question:
At models.com there is a list of agencies worldwide. Some are listed as "Participating Agencies", does that mean models.com verified them?

About Beatrice...

"In early 2007, Beatrice Models changed ownership while their historic staff remained the same but permitted at the same time a surge of new positive energy, growth and expansion, in fact, their new luxurious offices in Milan's center should be ready sometime in 2008." (models.com)

The new owner is Edoardo Cicorini...:shock:
He is an Italian actor...

1 Model Management's new website has to be my favourite of all the agency websites - it's really lovely and fun - and beautiful design work for the books too!

Model Poaching: Elite Sues Next for Stealing Karlie Kloss

Quick — someone grab "Klosshave" before another
agency does!Photo: imaxtree

The fashion industry is keeping lawyers pretty busy these days: First NBC sued the Weinsteins over Project Runway, then Phat Fashions sued Victoria's Secret over a "P" logo, and in turn Victoria's Secret sued Macy's over its Pinkish line. Not to be outdone, the modeling industry enters the fray today with Elite Model Management's suit against Next Model Management. Elite accuses Next of stealing its talent, namely burgeoning supermodel with the best runway death stare ever, young Karlie Kloss. The Post reports:
The suit claims Next offered her "improper compensation" to lure her. A source said, "Elite is especially angry because they are the agency responsible for launching her career." The suit claims Next has also "poached through improper means" other Elite models. It cites a February 2006 New York Post article in which Next co-owner Joel Wilkenfeld acknowledged, "These things happen in our business." Wilkenfeld told Page Six he hadn't seen a copy of the suit and therefore had no comment.
We wonder what "improper means" refers to. Did they dangle Chanel handbags in their faces? Perhaps Next's comp cards have better paper stock? The article also hilariously, repeatedly refers to Karlie Kloss as "Karlie Klosshave," which means the paper either made a really embarrassing error (seriously, they could have checked our Model Manual) or uncovered her real top-secret pre-model name. We're leaning toward the former, but the latter would be pretty awesome.

^yes and I like it much better than their previous version. Bigger pictures and faster...;)

Then, I have a little question... does anyone know what's happening with Race Management NY ? Their website doesn't work any longer and I haven't heard anything from them or their models for quite long

DNA opens their own milan office very soon, they're scouting hard in europe these weeks, to launch a good board of new faces at their launch there.
