amazing nicol...

can a mod resize these so they are more easily viewed?...

THANKS!!!...

Thanks..sorry about the size..i'm not too good with these things..

Thanks, nicol :flower:

The picture of the child in black reminded me of a dress I had as a child ... it was black velvet with an antique (at least looking) lace collar. And I still remember (I was 5, 6, 7, that timeframe) how odd and different it felt to wear that heavy black velvet. And I don't think my mother liked my wearing black, thought children shouldn't. It really says something about the meaning and power of black that it seems so antithetical to children ...

Please RESIZE pictures that are too big or add them as attachments next time!!! It takes too much time to load such big pics!!!

Gorgeous photos nicol!! Thanks for sharing :flower:

I'm shocked that gorgeous white empire floor length gown in #806 is Cavalli  Who'd a thunk??

curious...cavalli is the credit for the dress on the other page...
which nicol didn't post...
the credit for the white dress you mean is 'silk muslin goddess gown'...YSL...;)...

makes more sense now, doesn't it...??

Bet the velvet was very different than the horrid excuse for velvet permeating so many shops today. Where did that wonderful heavy, soft non-tacky stuff go? Also - know a kid whose favorite color is black. I like that kid. :)

yep...i know....
and it seems that everyone is being sucked into it whether they admit it or not...i'm sure some people are even doing it unconsciously...
but there is no escaping it this season...

yay!!!........
this might be the best f/w fashion season ever!!!...

speaking of several pages back...
remember this dress?...

i checked it out at barney's and it is made rather poorly and what you can't see is that there is gold lurex thread around the pleating....
which was already beginning to unravel...:ninja:
so i gave it a pass....
just thought i'd update you guys...

There's a darling black dress in this theme in a recent Neiman's catalog ... it's Harari and the really killer part is the "neck accessory," which is kind of a bib of a bunch of knotted ribbons, looks like some tiny pompoms, jet, etc. hanging down, a few almost to the model's knees. And then the tank dress itself has layers--the top is charmeuse with kind of a lettuce edging, looks like also satin + a sheer layer, worn w/ black suede boots. Very witchy :p It's great, hopefully I haven't made it sound hooooorible ... :p I would've posted it already, but they don't have it online.

I just saw this dress at Anthropologie that made me think of this thread:
