I agree...Lavender and Horace were top notch! I was clapping in happiness with them. And the Teenage Riddle was also very good.

LOVED lavender, ron and slughorn scenes...didn't like hermione at all, mainly because of emmas acting and the embarrassing scenes between her and ron. i mean the whole toothpaste thing was horrible, and that scene with the butterbeer. they made it TOO obvious that they want each other and what was meant to be cute and funny was just embarrassing to me

also the movie to me is about voldemorts history, how he grew up, how his story is so similar to potters and to explain his hate towards muggles...the only scenes that were in the movie were baby Voldemort (which btw i ADORE, perfect little boy and he was cute and you felt sad for him, but at the same time got the chills) and how he finds out about the horcruxes, i wanted to see at least a glimpse at his mom and father/his uncle and grand-dad, i hope they will include that in the 7th film

and there wasn't enough action. the dumbledore scene (at the end) could have been done a LOT better

BUT i think malfoy was great in this movie, really good acting! the quidditch scenes were amazing and it was just nice to see them back on screen again. and although i barely ever cry in the cinema i was sobbing uncrontrollably when dumbledore died, i think that scene and the effect it had on all people was well done

maybe what i thought was embarrassing was also due to the horrible german translation /dubbing, i might change my mind once i've seen it in the original version

That was the part that bothered me the most...Harry is just walking around downstairs? PLEASE! Harry would have jumped up there and tried to help. He wasn't even acting...just walking around with his wand out...oh boy. In the books Harry was so emotional...beating against the magic wall Dumbeldore had put around him.

The emotion that I felt from the book was not even in this part in the movie.

WTB a better Dumbledore.

I have mixed feelings about the film overall (So many crucial details cut out! Yikes), but I gotta say that the young actors, for the most part, have evidently honed their craft and were better than ever in this movie. Absolutely impressed by DanRad, Tom, Evanna, Rupert...and even Emma didn't irritate me as much this time! Bonnie could still use some...work, but I blame JKR for making Ginny such a crappy character when she had so much potential

Jim Broadbent was just ideal as Slughorn and made the storyline so much more intriguing - I kept imagining that he would break into song because of his Moulin Rouge role, though

And Alan Rickman/Michael Gambon - what can I say? Spectacular portrayals of their respective characters.

But ultimately I'm glad it made so much already! HP will forever be an iconic series

This film just proves what a bad actor Michael C. is. I absolutely hate him as Dumbledore now more then ever. RIP Richard Harris..for you will always be Dumbledore in my eyes

I know right ...he's such a bad Dumbledore he plays him like he's a sicko and always very rushed...and not like the almost cold blooded, calmed and wise looking Dumbledore of the books or Richard....RIP

I haven't see the movie but I'll see it soon cause it's already here this never happende before.....maybe tonight

On the other hand, the fashion-conscious part of me spotted some costumes that reminded me of Dior Haute Couture, Viktor & Rolf and perhaps Gareth Pugh.

I was definitely thinking of Gareth when McGonagall was on screen!

i dont want to say im disappointed by sigh, i guess i should remember that movies never live up to the book.

what bothered me the most was the little cute teen omg ron! dirty inside joke parts. they disregarded most of the story to put little scenes like these in so that girls can gawk over and shout during the movie. so annoying. i actually thought, dont kill me, that the quidditch scenes though great were unnecessary. too many ron centered scenes.

overall i like it, but at the end of the movie i thought to myself, what did i actually see because i felt like a lot of it was disjointed and scenes were really short. even some scenes of draco bothered me, i think his scene in the end was the most emotional part of the movie (even more so than the actual death which was so disrespectful to such an important character). you could see his struggles and how the deed was killing him.

^ I agree with you on the Draco part at the end...oh why could they not do more then that! Michael Gambon is a good actor...I just don't know why he can't act in these movies >.<

And Ron being in the team was in the book quite a bit so I didn't mind that.

i love ron so much, so every scene that involves him is a good one

i just don't understand why they put so many random scenes in there but left out some memories/talk about the horcruxes...i felt so much of the movie was spent on the love-triangles that what i wanted to see was left out. why put in new scenes that are unimportant and cut important scenes from the book?!

and why not even a word about bill/fleur or percy???!!!

What's with the Gambon-bashing? I thought he was fantastic in this!
I don't get why people love Richard Hariis so much. I'm sorry but you could always tell he was a dying old man IMO.


Anyways..I loved the film. I really liked how it was romantic, funny, complex, and dark all at the same time.

Because Dumbledore in the movies is a totally different Dumbledore. I don't like it lol.

I have liked other movies with Michael Gambon...its just these movies I dont.

Richard Harris was Dumbledore in my eyes..he had the Twinkle and the smile. He carried himself in a way that was befitting. Michael is just blah...al straight forward and no smile.

I'm curious on where Harry is going now at the beginning of the new movie...now that the burrow was attacked =/ and the wedding o.O

Well I'm feeling weird cause this is the first movie since the second that I haven't walked out bitching and moaning. And I mean bitching and moaning till the cows come home.

I thought it was at least a 6.5/10. A good book to screen translation. I normally complain about how much they leave out but I think they got it just abut right.

Dan, Rupert and Emma were great. They get better each movie. Emma was way better. Rupert was funny. He needs to do a comedy. Dan could too. He just acted as himself during the scene in Hagrids cabin all hyper etc. I liked how the gently incorporated Ginny into the trio's "circle". It was just enough. Tom was good also.

I thought Gambon was really good this time. I have agreed in the past that he hasn't been up to stratch. Jim Broadbent's facial expressions are just how I imagine Slughorn doing them in my head when reading the books. Perfect casting. Rickman and Helena were fab as usual.

But Lavender and Cormac totally stole the show. OMG the bit where they are eating ice cream at the slug club. That Freddie guy is HOT.

Teenage Voldy actor needs to be on Skins. His voice and attitude was so sexy.

Things I didn't like though were the Burrow burning down scene (totally pointless), the fact that Neville hardly got any screen time and neither did the other kids (Dean didn't even speak), Harry and Ginny's kiss was weak and should have been the most important of all the snogs, no Dumbledore's funeral (I still can't believe they didn't put it in), the opening scene was boring (hello outake from OotP. They should have just started with the bridge scene). But the most important thing they left out was the flashback memories for the horcroxes. Instead of the stupid Burrow burning down they could of shown the locket and cup being stolen. I really don't know how non book fans are going to understand it when they get to the next one.

I noticed there were a few little snippets here and there of info that will lead into the next movie but they have got a lot of gaps they need to fill in. Thank god it's been split into two.

Scenes I wish had of been kept were the scene in Madam Malkims robes shop where Harry and Narcissa meet, and of course the Dursley's. I wanted to see Dumbledore give them a bollocking.

But the best part was all the Harry and Hermione are just friends and will only ever be friends hints. They were BRILLANT. It's about time Kloves got it through his thick head that it's not going to happen. Nobody can walk out of this movie thinking it's not Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione. Can't wait for Deathly Hallows.

Also did anyone else notice this - the visual affects people forgot to make the pics in the Daily Prophet move. When Harry's in the cafe no pics move. It felt wrong and even though it's a small thing it really hacked me off.

^Yeh I notice the Daily Prophet thing also. I know they have tons to fit in, but I think what makes HP so great is the little details, so its always disappointing when the get left out.

I totally agree with all the things you dislike, and that they are going to have so, so much to catch up on. I'm still really annoyed about that whole silly house burning down scene - so pointless

The 'trio' were totally awesome, I think its because they are good friends in real life so they have awesome chemistry and of course the fact that their acting has improved massively. The scene with Harry/Herminonie on the steps after Lavender and Ron get together was so lovely/touching

Another (minor) complaint of mine is that Narcissa is totally not what I imagined her looking like, but then I guess thats more of a person specific thing as everyone has different idea of what the characters look like.

I agree with those who said that they emotion wasn't really there during Dumbledore's death. Considering how great the Sirius death scene turned out in the last movie with Harry's reaction, I was left wanting a bit more this time.

Also, I think they should have focused more on Horcruxes rather than the romance. After seeing the movie, I skimmed through the book again and saw how many important scenes surrounding Voldermort and his background were left out. They could have left out that completely pointless and oddly placed Burrow attack scene in the movie in favor of more memory scenes.

As far as a the romance parts, they were pretty entertaining though they took up way too much of the movie. I just have a complaint about the Harry/Ginny kiss, which was nothing like how it happened in the book. That should have been the one that happened in front of the crowd after the Quidditch game, although I guess it would be difficult to do because that particular match was not in the movie.
My favorite scene was when Harry took the luck potion. Dan was hilarious!

I really like it And I think part of the reason is because HP5 was so bad imo that it makes a good comparison.

It was a pity that they left out a lot of the memories scenes which I love, I have no idea how they're going to tell people which Horcruxes are left in the 7th movie

Different from others I find the emotional and romantic scenes way better than what I've imagined! (HP5 has no chemisty at all ) Harry/Ginny was still a little bit forced but Ron/Hermione/Lavender was just brilliant!! I could totally feel the jealousy. Dumbledore's death scene really hit me, the way he fell down instead of vanishing like Sirius And I swear half of the girls in the theatre cried too.

All the actors did a fantastic job this time. Lavender, Ron and DRACO especially They stole the show. Ginny and Hermione have improved as well.
And I just love how the movie was so hilarious at the same time The "skin" talk between Ron and Harry, finding Hagrid...

Totally agree on that Anyone see him licking his fingers? I died.

at the beginning the daily prophet thing...noticed it too, especially bad because the girl mentioned it and i was so excited because i always loved the moving pictures

but when the three of them were sitting in the burrow and having their little "campfire" the picture was moving so it was ok again - lol

i am so disappointed.
during the entire movie i were actually angry. it was so many extra things that didn't bring anything good to the movie at all, and so many important things left out.
it will be interesting to see in the next movie how they explain all the things that ought to be explained in this one.
