agreed. i felt like they should have explained it at least for those who didnt read the books. i hope they clear it up in DH.

It was a shame that Snape's unfortunate upbringing couldn't fit into the movie. I feel it's one of the underlying themes of the book, that the unloved child will return evil for evil. If the other kids at school, including Harry's father, hadn't teased and tormented a somewhat unappealing loner, Snape wouldn't have been filled with so much hate.

It's an interesting contrast with Draco, a much-adored son, who feels no pleasure in what his parents have him do. It's more like a family tradition to be evil.

I just watched the movie and I found it very boring and it was not really faithful to the book...

^Have you seen the other movies? I can't understand how it's 'boring'.
But I guess everyone's different

ya i've seen the other movies. did you read the books? ^_^ it's boring for me because they cut out scenes that i like in the book like the fight scene involving Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna and Neville against the death eaters and the beautiful scene of dumbledore's funeral etc... it was not completely faithful to the book...

I really liked the movie! ^_^

I just enjoyed it for what it was though. I didn't spend any time comparing it to the book and how or how not it was like it. Analyzing it the entire time you're watching it ruins it for you in most cases. :p

you have a point ^_^ but it was hard for me to forget what the book was like because I've been a fan of the book even before the movies started and my re-reading of HP6 before watching the movie did not help at all hahaha  but the actors were believable to be honest and the scenes with Ron, Hermione, Lavender and Cormick were very funny and entertaining... hahaha:lol:

Just saw it.

1) Draco Malfoy was HOT. That slicked blonde hair combined with the all-black suits he wore = HOT. Esp. when he was stalking around Hogwarts.

2) Narcissa Malfoy really impressed me. I initally had my doubts about the actress, but she portrayed the icy haughtiness of Narcissa perfectly. Like I once said, the casting director for HP really knows what he/she is doing.

3) My biggest disappointment was that they neglected to include the Hogwarts fight scene. I was itching to see the gang go up against the Death Eaters and smoke some ****.

4) I wanted there to be a funeral! Not a bunch of wand raising.

5) I'm not sold on Hermione and Ron. As a matter of fact, the movie turned me off on that pairing. I found the Harry and Hermione scenes much sweeter.

Agreed with these, but then I read its FAQ page on IMDb, and I was like, "Oh I see. Forgivable, I guess." ^_^

Yes, nearly the entire fight scene has been cut from this movie, and what hasn't been cut has been changed dramaticly from the book. In the movie none of the Death Eaters, Aurors, teachers or Dumbledore's Army actually fight. This was done because the ending of "The Deathly Hallows," the final novel, involves a very grandiose, epic battle at Hogwarts, and the filmmakers wanted to avoid the ending of this film being too similar to the ending of the final film.

Yes, the funeral for Albus Dumbledore at the end has been cut. It was in the original drafts of the script but was eventually eliminated. When you look at it from a practical point of view, it would involve getting hundreds of people together including high profile actors (Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson etc) for a few seconds' screen time with no dialogue. The effects would be costly as Grawp, the centaurs and the mermaids feature prominently and not very much happens in such a costly scene. Instead the students are shown giving a tribute at the end in a very moving scene and the bit afterwards with Harry, Ron and Hermione takes place in a tower. However, it has been rumored that Deathly Hallows: Part I will open with the funeral.

^ That's a reasonable explanation from imdb, thanks! :flower:

I wanted to see the battle (as well as a lot of the memories scenes) actually, but I wasn't too disappointed that they didn't include that. There's just no way to include everything in the 2 1/2 hrs long movie.

I agree with you eternitygoddess, Draco was hot :brows: And so did Cormac :shifty:

Cormac looked like a young Ryan Phillipe! Albeit a rather sleazy one.

On a sidenote, I could not believe the NERVE of Summit to show the New Moon preview in a HP film.

SPOILERS ALERT!!! I finnally saw it last night and I have to say that I really liked it! definitely different from the book and there were things I certainly didn't like but overall I thought it was really good.

one of my favorite parts was definitely harry on felix! I love the comedy scenes the movie had! the very beggining was so shattering because you see dumbledore put his arm around harry to protect him and if you read the books you know what's coming and the whole movie I was just sort of readying myself for that moment, yet, I didn't cry, I felt the scene was maybe too short, too lacking in emotion in a way and I feel that harry should have been petrified like in the book because he would never would have stay hidden under the staircase watching the whole thing, he is braver than that, but I did found very endearing how the students honor him even though I hated not having a proper funeral scene. the ending I thought could have been better too, it just felt like it was missing something, I would have love having the dialogue in the book where hermoine and ron tell him that they'll be there for him and going with him wherever he goes instead of Hermione telling him he was being "thick", it would have at least been a better closure to the film.

I loved the scene in The Burrow with Bellatrix, even though is not in the book and I do feel that time could have been use to explain some things better and go deeper in other scenes I'm not going to complaint because I love The Burrow and I was always rather cross they didn't show it more in the other films! MORE scenes in the burrow I say!

the one part that really sort of bother me was in the room of requirement because again if you read the books you know that harry uses an "item" to remember where he left his book and this is a major thing in the deathly hallows so im just curious as to how is going to play out in the seventh film.

WORSE THING: the girls screaming in the theatre when the new moon trailer came out, I felt like I was at a disney concert of some sort, it wasnt new, it's been shown before, doesn't look that good so I don't really understand the reaction of these girls. no need to scream.

OMG some of you know like every charactar in Hogwards, what a shame that i only know Hermine, Harry, Rohn, Bellatrix and the cute owl by name :D:(

I would've hurled my popcorn at them.

i dont know if this has been posted, but it got me thinking how i would rank the movies.. im divided if i should rank the movie as just a movie or a movie based on a book.

curious to know everyone else's thoughts.
right now its 536412.. but ill probably change my mind.

Oh, trust me, I wanted to so bad, but what if I got kicked out? I needed my harry potter fix. haha! some guys were laughing and booing so hard just making fun of all the girls screaming their heads off! I'm not exagerating it was insane!I was just so surprised they showed it in the first place, I hate that they are lumping the films together when they have nothing in common in my opinion. maybe cause robert P was in the goblet of fire? nothing against twilight, to each their own but I just don't understand the need to scream and shout and swoon about it. I just found out that J.k Rowling has say in all the HP merchandise, which I didn't know and I'm so grateful about cause the day I walk into a store and they have a whole isle of HP perfume, games, etc... I'm putting my foot down. haha she kept it very classy.I'm so ready to see the deathly hallows!

Argh... I really need to see the new movie but haven't found any time until now. My friends who've already seen it, said it wasn't that overwhelming but I don't care because The Half-blood Prince is probably my fav one of the books and: Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix is just :buzz:  Can't wait.

As for showing a New Moon trailer in a HP movie: :ninja: that is miserable indeed.

 as much as I'm anti-Summit you can't blame them. The Promos ads are given to the cinemas and then they chose what is shown. It's a combination of when they will be released, ratings and if the movie is aimed at the same audience (which it is -fantasy and teens).

Also sometimes they do the same company like another Warner Brothers movie shown in front of HP. I had Sherlock Holmes which is also WB but then we had Inglourious Basterds which is Weinstein/Universal. I first saw the HP promo before Star Trek and that's is by Paramount.

My friend had New Moon and she's a huge Twlight fan but she kept her cool.

I've been thinking...

Ginny hid Harry's Potions book, right? He did not see where she put it.
Bad! Cause, in the book, Harry bestows a wig and an old tiara on a bust close to the HBP's book so that he can find it again later. That tiara later turns out be the fifth Horcrux. How's Harry going to know where it is?
Ahh, those screenwriters.
