ahaha, that gif is glorious
i love how "dumbledore" is just reading through the script while "voldemort" is just a few feet away from him. it's weird seeing them as normal people in their wardrobe...helena is still bella though it seems:rofl:

^^i think the racist themes are very obvious, Hermione gets called "mudblood" in the very first movie, so i picked up on it right from the start, but it's amazing how well they've copied all the nazi propaganda. those pamphlets in the ministry of magic "what to do when a muggle attacks you" and so on looked like original Nazi stuff, with the fonts and pictures and all. i also loved that they included the new statue at the ministry with the muggles holding it up and being pressed together. i love that they pay attention to all these little details

and did anyone else love those little things (decoy edtonators?) harry used to get into umbridges office? they're so cute

well, then i blame it on our translation of the words "mudblood" and m"uggles" - they used a totally neutral words for it - i think they're actually madeup words exclusively for our translations of HP. i mean, i always realized the antagonism towards the muggles from the witches, but until i saw the movie i never realized the extend of it - the nazi-alike propaganda and all. that's what i meant. the detailing in this was magnificant.

helena is still bella though it seems:rofl:
That's what I was going to say too hahaha...Helena Bonham Carter seems like such a sweet person, Bellatrix Lestrange...not so much:ninja:

I still think Voldemort looks lame :innocent: But the snake was nice^^ Also I think it was when Harry and Hermione was standing outside what used to be the Potters' house and we got a flashback from the night they got killed, shouldn't they have shown a more Tom Riddle-like person and not the no-nose one? Voldemort got fu*cked in the face after killing James and Lily right?

That's right^ I never thought about it but now that you mentioned it... I thought Voldemort got the form that he is now at the gravyard at Goblet of fire when he got the body, before that he was the infant-like creature.

Yeah and before he tried to kill baby Potter he looked "normal" didn't he?

I believe so^ in the first movie there's a scene from the past where he is portrayed just wearing a black cape that covers him completely. That was a good point loonaka!

i think that transition happened before that

as he became more involved in the Dark Arts, his good looks left him, with his features becoming waxy and oddly distorted, and his skin was as pale as snow. The whites of his eyes took on a perpetually blood-shot look. Through the destruction of his soul and numerous bodily transfigurations from the creation of Horcruxes, he eventually took on the form of a tall, skeletally thin, and frail snake-like man with nearly translucent skin.

But something did change his looks after the avada kedavra(spl) spell backfired on him right?
I just thought it was a bit weird that he looked the same in the flashback as in the rest of the movie.
Also I have to say that I wish they would have done something to Draco's mum's hair :yuk:

Before Voldemort tried to kill Harry, he looked exactly like he does now...snakelike features, etc.

When the Avada Kedvra spell backfired, he became this entity that was trapped somewhere in between living and dead. He had no body...he was pretty much just a shadow of a person.

In GOF, Wormtail finds him and uses Nagini's venom and some complicated magic to get Voldemort back to some kind of solid form aka that creepy, baby like thing.

At the end of GOF, Wormtail uses Harry's blood, Tom Riddle Sr's ashes, and his own hand to create this powerful potion that gives Voldemort his old body back.

The Voldemort in the films looks exactly how he's described in the books (snakelike features, forked tongue, pale, veiny skin, etc)...the only difference is that he doesn't have the red eyes, which I like.

I think he looks extremely creepy.

The reason Voldemort looks like that in that in the first place is because of the horcruxes he created (by splitting his soul) on his quest for immortality.

I always thought Voldemort looked ridiculous in the movies, not how I pictured him at all :innocent: It all depends on the reader IMO

I think he could easily look even more exaggerated than he does. They made a good call not including the red eyes. It makes him more human and therefore even more frightening. And Ralph Fiennes does a brilliant job playing him. I love how Voldemort is always so calm in the movies.

I actually thing Voldemort is brilliant in the movies. I never quite liked Rowling's idea of red eyes and high-pitched voice.
I like his whisper-like voice much more. Ralph Fiennes is indeed great n his role

I agree with both of you! Ralph Fiennes is blood chillingly great in the movies, I love that he is scary in a quiet way, if that makes sense, he's just so threatning. Also, I think the red eyes idea was great for the book, but I am glad they didnt do it in the movies, since the character was intimidating enough and imo he's much frightening when he's a bit more human-like. Same with the high-pitched voice. He is actually quite the same as I pictured Voldemort when I first read the books, or then my idea of him has changed as the movies came :)

^ITA.. When I first saw Voldemort in the movies, I was 'hmmm, that's different from the books' but now, I can't imagine Ralph Fiennes being the Voldemort from the books.. I like movie-Voldemort better than book-Voldemort now that I think about it.. :)

From SS..

Emma Watson revealed the original split point for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, which David Yates had set to before Dobby's death at Shell Cottage. Many rumours surfaced last year that the split point for the final films would be right before the trio's capture at Malfoy Manor, including having the end be before Dobby's death. That can be viewed below (Emma spoke about it at the very end of the interview), as well as her explaining why Yates changed his choice to where it is now, as Voldemort gains possession of the Elder Wand from Dumbledore.

I think the current ending with Voldemort getting hold of the wand is better than the end being before Dobby's death..

i agree, it sets the right mood for the next one and is a quite good cliffhanger and a pointer of what's happening in the next one.

i love the fact that i didn't even know who's playing Voldemort in the movies, didn't even searched it - thought it was someone unknown and didn't want to spoil it since he's so good in playing him. imagine my surprise upon finding out it's actually Ralph Finnes after the third one

Half through the movie I forgot that it was only part 1  and I was thinking about stuff that hopefully will be in part 2..but it didn't su*ck as much as I had thought only seeing the first part..^^

I'm glad they cut off the film where they did, I wouldn't have wanted to see Dobby's death right at the beginning of the second film, I liked being able to have a proper cry about it. I think if it had been at the beginning of the second film I wouldn't have been able to cry over him.
