The Official Harry Potter Thread

I saw it as well!! It was awesome! Professor McGonagall is amazing!! I love how they put in little flashbacks of the previous movies like a troll from the 1st, the Chamber of Secrets from the 2nd, the spiders from the 3rd, they went ALL OUT! The knights protecting the castle was epic!

I didn't think the talk with the Grey Lady would be so long!

Also that fendifyre was EPIC! I thought Hermione as Bellatrix would be better.

Nagini killing Snape >>>>>

I think I'm going to go see it again!

Did anyone else feel like they were going to have a heart attack when the Warner Bros. logo came out?

That's when I started to well up.

I've just gotten back from the cinema and loved every minute, I'd go and watch it again, and again. Not going to post spoilers, I didn't visit the thread ahead of today, incase I read something I didn't want to. I can't believe the movies have come to an end. I feel a Harry Potter marathon over the weekend, Philosopher's Stone is already on TV.

^^People started laughing at Draco in my theater as well. I laughed too.
He looked so old and goatees don't work on men with such blonde hair.

Oh, so that was why everyone was laughing! I might have missed the goatee because I was trying to catch a glimpse of Scorpius's face, lol. For some reason, it looked like they aged the guys but left Emma and Bonnie's faces the way they normally look.

According to one of my friends, Al looks like Justin Bieber.:ninja:

When Voldemort and the DEs went to announce Harry's death to the students, there's a part when Ginny desperately whose body it is and Voldemort says it's Harry's (something like that, I don't remember the part too well). To old men in front of me just randomly started laughing really creepily and it made me think that they were DEs.

since i'm not able to see it in cinema for another 2 weeks, i couldn't wait so i watched the cam version so if i missed something blame it on the bad picture (haven't seen rob's belly or draco's goatee for an example) :ninja:. the fast pacing of the story continued throughout this one, so i think people who hadn't read the books really have issues watching it and connecting it all (when i watched the first part in cinema i had to retell and explain to my bf during the whole movie), esp, as someone pointed out the harry's death thing. i loved the movie, but it only struck my emotional chord when all of the deaths became apparent (good god, Lupin and Tonks just lying there while weasley's wept over george ), that's how good the rising of the tension was. snape story was so beautifully told, really did him the justice and "explanation", rickman was beyond amazing and lilly story was heartbreaking. finnes was at totally another level while delivering voldemort this time, he was brilliant, brilliant and i think that the hugging scene was my fave throughout the movie, gave the chills and lols at the same time. for the first time there was an apparent pallet of emotions coming from the voldemort himself. loved what they did with malfoys just running away when they realize the wheel of fortune changing, it's so them, always was. so nicely done. bella's death was kinda fast i must say, i expected more of the individual fights altogether, but i guess that then the movie would last over 3 hours, so i get it. neville was so cute. what i was scared the most was how they're going to show voldemort's end and they totally did justice to it, it was so beautifully done, really amazing.

what i found kinda weird were two scenes - first one being snape as the headmaster and professor mcgonagall - while he's threating you could see her sigh-ing and then harry's there and BAM she's fighting snape, it just didn't sit well with me (i think it might be cus it went so fast), the other scene was voldemort's entrance into hogwarts - hagrid just carrying harry, 2 meters away from the voldemort himself and voldemort being all careless going head to head with the kids and professors, that also didn't feel right, dunno why. :ninja:

all in all, beautiful end of the story, everyone's acting was really good, finnes and rickman were the real stars in this one, and that's it. so damn good!

My Fave Parts when i was in the theater everybody laughed at the makeup jobs in the epilogue scene. literally NOBODY looked older. some looked better than others, like Dan & Emma, but i couldn't stop laughing at Tom cuz he looked the worst!!

I just saw it gain. It's 100 times better the second time.
I had mixed feelings about The Prince's Tale scene when I first saw it, but after seeing it a second time, I think it's perfect.
There's just so much emotion and they adapted that scene beautifully.
Also, I love watching these movies with audiences who haven't read the books.
They're reactions when Snape dies and Harry finds out that he must die is priceless. :D

Some news on how the film is fairing money-wise...from Mugglenet:
'Deathly Hallows - Part 2' shatters midnight box office record

Raking in $43.5 million before dawn, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 set the new midnight box office record, according to Hollywood.com and The Associated Press. It was previously held by last summer's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse at $30 million.

With the addition of 3-D, Part 2 could end the franchise's spellbinding 10-year story with a total weekend debut approaching $150 million, according to Hollywood.com analyst Paul Dergarabedian. That would surpass the $125 million opening last November of the first Deathly Hallows installment.

At $158 million, 2008's The Dark Knight has the current opening weekend record.

'Deathly Hallows - Part 2' holds record-breaking opening day in U.S.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 continues to break box office records. In its first day, the movie made $92.1 million in the U.S - $20 million more than the previous record holder, The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

In a single day, "Deathly Hallows: Part 2" took in more money than four of the previous seven "Harry Potter" films did over their entire opening weekends.

The movie also currently has a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

^ i agree, i enjoyed it even more the second time because i was able to just sit there and relax

i also agree with everyone on how people who have never read the books would be really confused. I went with a few people who havent read them and had to explain some parts after. but they should just read them i mean to me the movies are good but the books will always be better

Just saw the film for the second time. This time around it was just as brilliant as when I first saw it. And even though I knew what to expect I still enjoyed noticing certain things that I didn't totally catch the first time around. Such as a chess piece in the room of requirement. I really loved how they had subtle details from the previous movies. It really tied everything together so well. Also, the music in this film was so good. I loved Lily's Theme it literally gave me chills when I herd it because it was so well done. And the film still managed to make me shed a few tears even the second time around- this time during Snape's memory and during the resurrection stone scene. But I didn't cry nearly as much as when I first saw it which I guess is an improvement. ^_^

This may not be professional but I thought it's really delicately done.

^ that's very cool!!

i was just thinking the other day- remember when, i think it was during Goblet of Fire or Order of Phoenix, but there was all of these speculation about whether or not the trio was going to be recasted in the last film because they would be too old to play them. imagine how weird would that be

I have a question regarding something that happened in the movie but I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet.

Did Lavender Brown die in the film? Because in one scene you see Padma Patil and Professor Trelawney cover up a body. I didn't really think anything of it until now. Because that doesn't happen in the book, correct? Colin Creevey (or excuse me his character is Nigel in the movie) is the only kid from Hogwarts named if I remember correctly.

I saw the final movie last night. I must say it wasn't as sad as in the book, but thats not to say I didnt cry a little! Freds death was in less detail that before, as was the feud between the Dumbledoors.

Yes, they changed it from the books. You can clearly see Greyback (? whats hsi name) eating her flesh out and even after Hermione defeats him, Lavender is pretty obviously lying dead. It looked really creepy, I personally liked that idea, because it gave the whole battle scene more darkness and fear to it.

I loved that as well! Like the little fairy things from Chamber of Secrets popping up in the Room of Requirement.
Also, the part when Harry sees the DA for the first time and the music from Sorcerer's Stone starts playing.
And also the part when McGonagall references Seamus blowing stuff up.

I loved all those little details. ^_^

Ahhh okay Aqua Tofana, thanks for clearing that up for me. I didn't realize it was her during that scene. And even though it doesn't happen in the book I think it works for the movie. And Sobriquet87, loved all those little details as well! And when Ron mentions that Harry talks in parseltongue in his sleep (which happened in the other books too) which is how he gets into the chamber of secrets. It really felt like they took their time making sure every little detail went into making it feel as real as possible. Also did anyone else catch when everyone realizes that Harry isn't dead George turns slightly and begins to say the name Fred? He wanted to tell his brother...
