The Official Harry Potter Thread

Argh... I really need to see the new movie but haven't found any time until now. My friends who've already seen it, said it wasn't that overwhelming but I don't care because The Half-blood Prince is probably my fav one of the books and: Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix is just :buzz:  Can't wait.

As for showing a New Moon trailer in a HP movie: :ninja: that is miserable indeed.
She does not disappoint at all!! She is so good, she is totally convincing - she is so scary/insane as Bella.

Can I join the Cormac appreciation group? He was so freaking hot, I love the bit at the dinner w/Slughorn where he was licking his fingers :brows:

I've been thinking...

Ginny hid Harry's Potions book, right? He did not see where she put it.
Bad! Cause, in the book, Harry bestows a wig and an old tiara on a bust close to the HBP's book so that he can find it again later. That tiara later turns out be the fifth Horcrux. How's Harry going to know where it is?
Ahh, those screenwriters.

I know and what about the cup that he didn't even get to see or the fact that Dumbledore didn't really explain about the ring which is infact a hallow.

They really f*cked us on the Riddle memories that's for sure.

Totally true. That's gonna be massive problems with the next movies. They should've gone a bit less into the awkard-teenagers-in-love-thing and maybe abit more into the complex story. But then again that is the old Hollwood thinking of 'moviegoers are more stupid than a bucket full of sh*t'.

The movie was good on a humorous side. But the emotion was lacking from everywhere else.

~
and omg...I don't flippin' care how long it would have taken to film a 10 minute scene of everyone gathered around Dumbldedore's funeral...it was DUMBLEDORE! What a bunch of bs from those stupid people.

He did. I remember he showed Harry Riddle's book and the Marvolo ring as examples. Harry approached the ring and got flashbacks from it.

but dumbledore already destroyed the ring, didn't he? that's where he got the injuries on his hand from...or am i mixing something up now?!

He destroyed the Hocrux inside of the ring, not the physical ring itself. In the 7th book, when Harry&Co destroy Hocruxes, they don't actually obliterate the object containing the Hocrux.

All I saw was a quick flash of images and they weren't crystal clear. It went so fast I seriously don't even remember seeing the cup.

I still think Dumbledore didn't do a good enough job of explaining about the ring but that's just me.

i know the ring itself wasn't destroyed...sorry for the misunderstanding
BUT i can't remember movie-dumbledore explaining his injury or saying that he destroyed the horcrux in the ring, actually i can't even remember him saying the ring was a horcrux to begin with. i can remember the "flash of images" but nothing else
(i' probably wrong though, i have only seen the movie once and i might have missed the explanation...)

No the movie was just really bad at explaining it...I had to fill in the gaps for my boyfriend after the movie because he was really confused

^ yeah but you shouldn't have to fill in the gaps to your BF. This is what hacks off hard core fans about the movie and why we moan.

If we can't understand bits then how the hell do non-book fans get it.

^ Exactly it must be confusing, especially seeing how things are not properly explained at all. If anyone hasn't read the books then before seeing the 7th film, I would recommend doing so to make it easier to understand what the hell is going on (and because they are so amazing, of course)

They have got themselves into a huge muddle, I don't know why they just couldn't follow the plot of the books...

I am not going to get excited about the new movies...I'm going to just expect it to be wrong...this way I am not so upset about it.

And only go with people who have read the books...explaining it makes me heated because of the crap they left out. It took me an hour to fill gaps. Ugh.

Just saw it..finally...good if you haven't read the book...lacking if u like me read the books and re-read the HBP book before seeing the movie :ninja::lol:

As many people have said there were crucial parts left out...in favor of the silly romance ..no chemistry at ALL in any couples

Michael Gambon was better in this movie I have to say...Alan Rickman was great as always..and overall the cast improved their acting.

I was expecting:..

1. the final battle it would have added the needed dose of action...

2. More memories...it will be really hard to fill that gap in the next movies...

3. The funeral...but I thought the wand rising escene and Dumbledore falling was really moving ..I had a teary eye

now the fashion part...

Draco looked really sharp....with the slick hair and all...love him and Tom felton's acting was better.

McGonagall shoulders

Also Narcisa was great...love the hair a la Daphne Guinness

The Cormac guy is HOT

still hate Dan/Harry's hair

I enjoyed it...as I do with everything HP

the last two movies better be really good and with good continuty cause it's my favorite book.

Harry asked Dumbledore "What are they exactly?" (meanning of course horcrux) and Dumbledore says they could be anything, most common objects, a ring for example or a book (that's where he shows Harry the ring and the diary), Harry recognized the diary and Dumbledore says four years ago he knew then it was a different kind of magic very dark and powerful, but untill tonight he had no idea just how powerful. Harry then ask "And the ring?", Dumbledore says "It belonged to Vodemort's mother, difficult to find, even more difficult to destroy." He makes a pause before saying "destroy" and shows Harry his hand.
Then they talk about how destroying the horcruxes destroys Voldemort.
Harry asks how to find them because they could be anywhere and Dumbledore says "True, but magic, especially dark magic... (then Harry touches the ring and get the flash backs)... leaves traces."

So, they explain the ring is a horcrux, that it belonged to Voldemort's mother, that it was difficult to find and they implied that Dumbledore injured his hand destroying the ring.

It was all said like in passing, like "Oh, by the way, this is a horcrux." They spend to much time on the romance especially Ron/Lavander and to little on the memories and Voldemort's past. I know they have to cut, I don't mind that, but they cut what they souldn't, leave a lot they should have cut and added unnecessary things.

^oh thanks A LOT for that...i guess i missed all that. but i feel like i'm not the only one

seriously, they made all those ron/hermione and ron/ginny scenes SO obvious, even the dumbest person in the cinema got that harry and ginny want each other as do ron and hermione, but why couldn't they do a better job at explaining the horcruxes and how important it is to destroy them all to make voldemort mortal again so harry can finish him off?!
i mean it's really nice that this movie shows that although they're facing horrible dangers and a possible death, they still have "time" for ~love~, but this whole series is about the battle against voldemort, his past should have mattered more and how it is possible to kill him.

and is bill going to look normal in the next movie?! because they cut out the scene where he's getting attacked by greyback by cutting out the fight scene in hogwarts as well

oh...and when they didn't want to shoot the battle at hogwarts this time because it would look too similar to the endbattle, why did harry/ginnys kiss in the room of requirement look exactly the same as harrys and chos kiss? (or did it just look the same to me?)

^You're welcome!^_^
Yes, I guess Bill will look normal since he wasn't attacked because there was no battle.:ermm:
I didn't think Harry/Ginny's kiss looked like Harry/Cho's kiss, well they made it happened in the room of requirement just like H/C's, but why did they change it? H/G's kiss was the one supposed to happen it the common room after the game in front of everyone, I actually liked that in the book. There was no need to change it. It would have been funny to see the expression in Ron's face.
why couldn't they do a better job at explaining the horcruxes and how important it is to destroy them all to make voldemort mortal again so harry can finish him off?!

Exactly! Again, I know they have to cut, but why change and add when it's not necessary and it actually takes away from the movie? And by adding unnecessary things they take more time away that they could have take to explain the horcruxes, Voldemort's past, how to destroy him, etc.

You will be glad to know that Bill has scratches on his face. His face is not rip to shreads but there are scars (and they could be made worse by CGI). I posted the pics on here. Go back a few or ten pages.
