Topshop, UK

I think it's hit or miss although I've bought things from there i ADORE, esp. from the designer range at Oxford Circus. They've got great 'pick me up' pieces - cute and cheap bags & tops for small trendy shopping fixes...and in terms of other high street stores it's equal or better quality IMO (I find Zara's fabrics incredibly inferior and warehouse/new look/river island are much cheaper/worse quality. I'm always surprised when people say they like Zara!

I don't think Zara has such a bad quality, it's not much worse than TopShop or H&M imo! I like TopShop and I love the store on Oxford Circus in London, it's like Paradise! They have really everything there though I agree with you all that it's way too expensive for the quality...Zara or H&M are much cheaper and their quality isn't worse I think...I still think Topshop is definitely the best UK highstreet fashion stores, like River island etc. I don't always like the clothes at Topshop but at the store on Oxford Circus, I always find something, they really have a variety of things. I still think the prices are too high but I think all fashion stores are more expensive in London than in other cities, like H&M..I've experienced that a lot of clothes were much more expensive in london than in other cities where they have the Euro, I'm not sure if it's like that in all over England or if it's just a few clothes....After all I think Topshop at Oxford Circus is probably the best high street fashion store in Europe.

Thanks for the article susie. :flower:

When you said the TS design collection would be in a couple of weeks, is it going to be introduced at the Vogue/Topshop event?

^Apparently, some pieces are already in. They're slowly gonna be getting stock every month. But I'm gonna go check it out and ask the SA's coz I think the PR girl was being v. flaky when she said they were gonna be in stores in two weeks.

The Vogue/Topshop event I think is not a launch of the Unique range.

I was at the Oxford street branch on Tuesday.. I diden't see any of the new pieces, just the same old' stuff that's been hanging there for months, except some skinny jeans.

Thanks for the info. :)

Topshop at Oxford Circus is my ultimate retail therapy fix. Everytime I have guy trouble, or am just generally depressed, I hop onto the train, and there i am. Happiness and recovery for 100 quid...

I've bought lots of accessories there in the past few months, an off-white rope belt that is meant to go around the waist but I wear it around my hips, a leather corset belt, and a long, oversized, beige, worn-out thin jumper from the knits section to wear over skinnies. I never buy anything that isn't classic enough/too trendy from there, I find myself hating it after a while.

I think the problem with Topshop is is that it's all fine until you walk down oxford street and then find yourself running away from a girl who has the identical outfit to you. You want to go home and change. So it's all about the way you put stuff together. I don't think it's ever a good idea to do a head to toe Topshop outfit, even on a bad day when you can't be bothered. I remember reading an intervew with Simon Cowell when he said the second series of Pop Idol was so hard because all the girls were the same, so he started calling them "Topshop Idols". It made me laugh at the time, because it's very true.

You can't stop people having the same clothes as you! Get over it!
You can still look individual - its the way you wear it! Thats what makes the difference between having style and er...not having style!

I just saw this. Er, thanks for the style advice. I really needed it.  :innocent:

I think Top Shop quality is ok, actually - after all their stuff is designed for a few wears. At least they use a lot of cotton, I find Zara fabrics really synthetic and horrible. Top Shop is really aimed at teenagers, and not intended to last for a long time, so I think they've got it right.
I find that zara clothes look really good the first time you wear them, after they just look cheap

What is TopShop's price range? Is it comparable to H&M?
Yeh i would say it is definately comparable. But if you get the chance, go to both because they stock similar clothes and there may be variations in price so you can buy the cheapest!

hey guys i am going to london in july for a holiday. i am staying in knightsbridge. i really want to check out topshop. is it far from there? where are the stores located. i did check out the website but didnt really understand. cheers for the help xx

^Not far at all. Just take the number 10 bus towards Oxford Circus and it will take you right to its doors! The ONLY store you should be visiting is the Oxford Circus branch because the other ones are just not that great. You can't miss it - just get to Oxford Circus via tube/bus and you'll find it.

I have no problem with wearing head to toe topshop - I have such problems finding clothes for my petite frame and height, and Topshop is honestly the best place on the high street for this where I live. While I love the occasional designer purchase, I prefer having a wardrobe full of pretty and affordable clothes that fit well, rather than stuff from places such as Warehouse and Oasis who do not cater for small people!!

I think the key is to stick to items that are not too 'high fashion' - if you are a dedicated Topshop follower like me who is in there on average twice a week, thats pretty easy to do.... :D

IMO, Topshop rocks :mowhawk:

No I think you missed the point of my post-that unless you put your individual take on it, you can look like anyone else.

I know what you mean, as I live down the road I'm there all the time. But you have to be careful with some pieces more than others.

Oh yeah, but i guess that is the same for every shop - high street or designer really. I like to think that my love of accessories makes me look totally different to anyone else who might have the same jeans and top on.

It is how you wear the clothes in the end :D

Could someone confirm that this vest is from Topshop?

I think topshop is hit or miss sometimes. It's a fun shop to go into because there is really something for everyone. Some people do go overboard with it, like pucci said before, you can't walk down the high street and not see a trendy girl wearing at least one item from Topshop. It is so successful because it is affordable and relatively unique for the high street, compared to shops like River Island which can look really tacky.

It is becoming way overpriced. I get 20% discount so it's not so bad, I guess.

I think you can definitely look original and shop exclusively in Topshop even.
