UK Vogue August 2019 : Karlie Kloss by Steven Meisel

I remember this Elsa Benitez cover:

Magpile

Still one of my faves.

I think Jason Duzansky designed this one. He's always there when Meisel makes the cover. And I love the fact that Karlie is here, like the old good days. I miss to se her on the covers so often as the beginning of this decade.

Love Meisel but bored by the execution. Ok he is not doing outdoors but can we have a set at least...
i don’t know, a house, a castle...Something!

Right?! Have you seen the new Moschino campaign? Miles ahead of anything he's done for this magazine. The styling, production value, the cast who delivered etc. Maybe someone else should start styling these covers because even when Carlyne styled a studio shoot it still looked energetic. I'm beginning to think that Carlyne is actually one of the greatest stylists ever despite not actually liking her OTT sensibility. You could never say you're bored with the execution of her work.

all work of Meisel is Vogue UK look the same, super boring

Maybe Carlyne, due to her relationship with Meisel can push him more... Because she is not a « fan girl ».
Now that I think about that, even MAS’s work with Meisel wasn’t so linear....
The same with Benjamin Bruno.

Edward had a blockbuster cast announced when he got the position. I don’t get why he is still styling the covers and why he is still the only one working with Meisel.

Yes, that Moschino campaign looks glorious already. Carlyne is a fabulous stylist. No one can do what she does...Even if they believe they can.

See how green works when properly paired with a complementary color

I love it! Karlie looks amazing, the green gives at a fresh, zingy feel. It's a nice bridge between the summer and autumn issues.

I would take a studio portrait shot by Meisel every month and be perfectly happy. I've loved all of them so far; to me they manage to be commercial, formulaic and have newsstand appeal, whilst still being glamorous and "fashion".

The layout is improving and looks great here. Yes we've seen it before, but it works so I don't hold it against them.

My favorite to work with Meisel is Karl.

Glad to see Karlie & Meisel work together again, but her pose on the cover is awful. Both previews of her editorial are stunning & waiting for the results about the story.

It is known that Meisel does not care anymore except if the stylist comes with a strong and exciting concept to execute.

Edward is not the man for that. Carlyne is as she is extra in everything she does, Karl is Karl and MAS (when she is not lazy) is the over intellectual /very conceptual stylist who can challenge the idea of fashion and beauty, last not least Benjamin Bruno but the rest of the stylists don't have the skills and authority to work with Meisel and make it work.

The cover is not bad but Karlie is not a good model anymore. Not like she used to be when she was younger. Everything feels flat and boring.

+ Alessandro Michele and Sara Grace Wallerstedt by Paolo Roversi, Marc Jacobs by Steven Meisel, Joan Smalls by Sean Thomas for the 'holiday' section and no special subscribers cover this month.

Interesting that Meisel shot 2 stories for an August issue. Unless he wanted no part with whoever got next month's cover, which must mean it's probably M&M or similar.

If true, the ego move is entirely justified. In no reality can a Meisel shoot be folded behind an M&M or McDean cover. It's just not acceptable. Though I think it may have happened at W magazine some years ago. Klein shot the cover, I think.

Anyone know what ever happened between Meisel and Anna? Why he isn’t shooting anything for US Vogue?
