Natalia's always on those Vogue best-dressed lists, now she gets to be UK Vogue's choice for best-undressed person too.

^well....that has been the very reason she was picked in the first place, I think. That is the type of model the industry has wanted for the last 10 years.
i think you're absolutely right, ILJ, but i guess that's been my issue with most of the models of the past few years. for every Daria or KK or Gisele or Jourdan or Natasha there are a thousand models who possess this unattainable, unrelatable, distant, vague beauty like Natalia. her photos are gorgeous, but devoid of her personality.
i don't know why people in the industry complain about not having any SUPERMODELS anymore, when the industry itself promotes girls who don't have the fire. they don't want the international fame. and that was the key ingredient to the Supers back in the day. they loved it. and so they played that up in their photos and we have all these iconic images of women with huge personalities. Natalia is 100% a present day supermodel. there's no denying it. her success in the high fashion world has been positively tremendous ... but she's certainly not coupled it with any sort of "celebrity". and i think part of the problem is that since about 2000, when we saw all of these talentless people becoming celebrities (Paris, Nicole, endless reality stars, etc) the word "celebrity" has become a negative one. so many don't want our models to be celebrities.
well i do. i'm definitely one of those nostalgic for the supermodel era ... and i know that there are many people who are decidedly NOT. but i think that models should represent the pinnacle of glamour and fashion and sexyness. they should be iconic women and muses!
takes all kinds, i suppose!
