UK Vogue June 2017 : Alexa Chung by Mario Testino

Must confess that this cover does look a whole lot better to me in person, and I think it's the glossy finish which elevates a somewhat questionable cover shot of Alexa. Going off the cover image itself, I'm kinda stunned at the outcome of Alexa's cover story - which has a totally different mood all together. Amazed she went without a bra!

The rest of the issue leaves a lot to be desired. I don't dislike Mario Testino's editorial with Ellen Rosa as much as the majority here but once again.. another totally underwhelming issue for British Vogue.

I love Jean's editorial! Mainly because of the styling, all thanks to Clare Richardson.

Blimey, the written features in this issue better be enough of an incentive to get this because none of the edits so far are doing it for me. The styling in Alexa's edit is interesting, but despite the fishnets and flashing boobs she's simply not believable as this sexually charged Lady Chatterley incarnate which I'm assuming they've gone for.
I like Jean's edit, especially the last shot, but it's what we've been getting month after month from Colin Dodgson. So there's nothing new here. And whatever was new is just terrribly executed.

I know we should just be going through the motions until Alexandra is gone, but a tiny part of me hoped she'd go out with a bang. In her mind Alexa's edit is probably the definition of the latter.

I don't think the problem in The Drifter has anything to do with the casting but the styling/photography/art direction/everything else.. I mean, I understand models "carry" most stories but apart from the PC obsession, we also give models too much fcking credit really... that last shot with the palm tree shadow for instance (and throw in the other one too) would improve by a mile with a wider shot, instead, because Mario's ~all about models~ (as many here), the stupid frame has the model barely fitting in there like she's inside a box when the whole composition does not call for that. Same for the other portraits when the landscape, colors and even the models herself are dying to have some sort of harmony between then because they're all equally stunning rich.. in other words, the closer the shot, the weaker the picture gets and no, it doesn't come down to model choice but Mario not knowing what to do with so many good elements he had going for that story.

Alexa's story is much better and it sort of proves my point, he works better when it's all consolidated into one silhouette (hello, portrait photographer).

As much as I consider the cover, styling and Alexa all quite.. 00s, I actually have liked seeing Alexa's evolution now that she's in her 30s without losing her approach to style which, as played out and corny as it's been, still promotes a quirkier/not so sexual understanding of femininity. I like that this is riskier but balanced well with the theatrics and textures, so thank god it doesn't feel like she's trying to sell sex bomb. It's also more dignified since last time we saw her topless but nose bleeding and for Vice.

not a fan of Alexa cover. Vogue UK should update themselves. they are repeating themselves around same names on the cover and interview every year. I hardly buy the magazine despite Vogue UK was my inspo in millenium time.

I'm concerned that Alexa Chung actually think she can hawk these clothes to someone...

That's the editorial? Don't tell me they didn't at least had 1 cover trial from that shoot.

I wonder how Edward's feeling as he's seeing these issues unveil from last month to the last. I think he's laughing and saying "You're setting the bar very low for me Alex".

This is one of the worst covers I've seen from this edition. It feels lifeless. Out of touch, and very uninspired. You can see that her heart's no longer in it. With these issues, Alex is making it very hard for me to, at the very least, feel sad that another era is over.

With that, I agree Benn98! Part of me, a huge part actually, wishes that she'll end with a fantastic cover! It's a long shot but, one could only wish at this point.

You may say whatever you want about Jean Campbell but she is the only one delivering something here. She is growing up beautifully, even giving me a bit of Vanessa Paradis sometimes. That outside black and white shot is amazing.

Alexa is the same old joke. That editorial is crass.

Thanks for putting Alexa's photos from the issue. The inside photos are better then the cover.
