US Vogue Best Dressed Special Edition 2012 : Emma Stone by Mario Testino

^But if we were to eliminate celebrities who are dressed by stylists, we'd be left with Diane Kruger plus a few ultra-indie dressers (many of which use stylists anyway).

Good god. Why is Cody Horn included in any magazine?

^Nepotism. I don't like her but her red carpet style has been pretty decent so I don't mind her as long as she stays away from acting..

What bothers me isn't so much as the list including people dressed by stylists, it's the list including people who can't even pull off the looks given to them by stylists.

Look at Rooney and Emma, sure they use stylists but the looks wouldn't have been that great if it weren't for them pulling them off.. And someone like Kirsten Dunst who has great personal style and uses the help of a stylist for daring red carpet choices. Looking at them, there isn't a disparity between the style created with the help of a stylist and their own attitude on the red carpet.

But with Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence all I see is a mess.. The former tries too hard to look like she's not trying and the latter just doesn't have a Vogue sense of style, you can tell Jennifer is not much for fashion. None of them have been able to pull off this fashionista status they're partaking in with Vogue (I'm sure Jennifer is about to get a cover soon)

^ your last statement is what I was talking about. Emma is ok becuase it seems consistent (her style and the picks from the stylist; she may even tell her sometimes nono or I would like to go for this thing, don't know...), but the exemples you chose... their real looks are quite opposite to the ones they dress in the red carpet and I'm pretty sure, in the case of Kristen Steward at least, that she hates most of them and that she would prefer to wear sneakers and jeans to premieres (what she does, because the outfit by the stylist lasts in her for like 15 min. before she changes it for something more confortable)

I think most of the "best-dressed" people here are featured for their popularity this year, not their style. Seriously, some people are not even close to "stylish" :ninja:

There are outtakes from previous Vogue features for Jennifer Lawrence (in a black swimsuit by Norman Jean Roy,) Elizabeth Olsen, two photos of Emma Stone's Testino/mad hatter shoot, one from Rooney Mara's Mert/Marcus Ophelia shoot, the others also seem to have outtakes...

The thing about these lists is that they always just go for the most popular girls. As if Jennifer Lawrence would be on this list if she didn't star in The Hunger Games.

I think the only it-girl I really truly love is Rooney Mara.
