I hate that the fact that JHud is allegedly on the cover is being treated so politically. When people hate that Witherspoon is on the cover, they say it, and no one is going all bla-bla-bla-it's-your-fault on them. and the fact that people don't like JHud doesn't make them dislike the fact that African Americans or blacks get the cover (I for one loved Liya). BUT HONESTLY, SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IS FASHIONABLE ABOUT JENNIFER'S PERSONAL STYLE?? NO NO! WAIT... WHAT IS JENNIFER'S PERSONAL STYLE!!??!!?

I completely agree. To quote the Devil Wears Prada (:ninja: :innocent: )

"(Vogue) is a fashion magazine. So interest in fashion is crucial."

Jennifer Hudson has no sense of style. That is the issue. I, for one, am angry that she is on the cover because she has no sense of style and she is not a fashion icon.

The fact that anyone who dislikes the idea of Hudson on the cover is branded 'racist' by some people in this forum, is very unfair.

^Uh Kate Hudson was a NEW ***ed face when she did her cover. The fact that you can't relate Jennifer Hudson with Vogue is exactly what's wrong with our society...

Well excuse me, but whats wrong with our society is individuals like yourself who use your incredibly profound vocabulary to describe Kate Hudson as a "NEW ***ed face".

The fashion industry is a very specific about what is "chic" and what is in fashion. People don't associate Jennifer Hudson with Vogue, not because of her novelty or because shes not particularly thin - its because she has no sense of style and she isn't the emodiement of a Vogue covergirl.

It's simple.

But isn't fashion and style about transformation as well? She has gone through makeover after makeover since we first saw her, and now she is gradually emerging as a woman of sophistication...and finally, designers are actually paying attention to her *gasp* because of her newfound fame. No matter what anyone says, though, her "lack of style" ultimately does have something to do with her weight. Because the bottomline is that she cannot pull off most of today's "stylish" looks with her current physique, and that hindrance is already a great form of pressure. Why else did she seek to lose weight immediately after Dreamgirls finished production? Because those around her (And even herself) knew very well that she would need to attend the premieres, the awards ceremonies, look "good" for the cameras, and be "stylish." So she did, and surprise, surprise -- the critics (Both in fashion and in film) preferred her over her co-stars, the designers flocked to her side because of her nominations, and the public finally began to take notice.

It's all relative to me, really -- Anna's just being a catalyst for Jennifer, a type of fairy godmother in her Cinderella story.

For once, I have faith that the cover will be amazing. Because Anna knows that people will doubt her for this decision, and she will, more than ever, want to prove them wrong.

I don't understand why people keep saying Jennifer Hudson has no sense of style. How do you know that? From what I've seen, she wears beautiful dresses that complement her figure perfectly.

She looked gorgeous at the SAG Awards:

And yes, I know she probably had a stylist, but so do Nicole Kidman, Renee Zellweger, etc.

Oh yeah, and remember: it could be worse. It could've been Beyonce on the cover. Talk about no sense of style. :ninja:

Back to American Idol days again? But they're so ancient...

Transformation, my dear, transformation...;) :flower:

Why are these individuals even being CONSIDERED for a Vogue cover? What is the world coming to?! Vogue is about fashion and style - not celebrities and award nominees.

But in today's star-chasing society, they're (Fortunately or unfortunately) the ones dictating the direction of style :o Even all whom you named in your previous posts were actresses

Absolutely. Thank you. She's stunning. God, we've been discussing for five pages and I'm dying to see this!

Jennifer is fantastic.

i'm sure next month everyone will be cursing that the same old person is on vogue again...

true. just the same way the previous ones were cursed ... i personally don't care as much for the cover as the content -_- ... i think it's a bit refreshing ... vogue italia does not get as much criticism for their covers ... granted they're 'high fashion' and are incredible, i find it that popular opinion has its ways :ninja: meanwhile, i'd love to see rinko in vogue :woot:

i really like china vogue. have many amazing cover ,i don't like itail vogue. a bit Artificial!

I love seeing women like Jennifer Hudson on the cover because to me, she is very fashionable. I hate "figurative" fashion, or "statement" fashion if you will. Comme Des Garcons looks cool, but can you really wear their whole runway styling (or even most of the pieces) without looking like an idiot? Keep my fashion like Versace and Oscar de la Renta, please!

I prefer Jennifer Hudson to, say, Lou Doillon and those other haughty Euro-chicks who throw on crap and, like the emperors new clothes, everyone pretends to "get it," when really they just wear stupid outfits.

It's someone different for the cover, someone I'd never imagined I'd see on the cover - and now I can't wait to see what they've done with her. I hope it's some super-glam shot that turns fashionistas insane at the sight of it. God, yes!

I have to really disagree... Naomi may be talented, but she will always be the poor man's Nicole Kidman, like it or not. Jennifer has a much better chance of reaching A-List status, similar to Sienna Miller and Keira Knightly on the covers before her. Jennifer is also an amazing beat-the-odds story, and who doesn't like one of those?

Naomi is one of the most talented actresses working in Hollywood right now.In fact, sometimes I find her even more versatile and talented than Nicole Kidman, every single movies she's been in got amazing reviews. She's also very fashion forward with her bold choices from givenchy ,lanvin ,etc.If anyone,Naomi deserves it much more that a girl who's been in just one movie!
Another actress who I think is long overdue for a Vogue cover is Maggie Gyllenhaal. She's been nominated so many times for various awards, amazing actress and has her own unique style.
and last but not least, miss Chloe Sevigny, the most innovative dresser of our time in America who also happened to starred in some of the award-nominated and citically acclaimed films.

I think that out of all the actresses you mentioned Chloe Sevigny deservs Vogue cover most. For me she has one of the best styles out there but i dont think its Vogue cover material or whatever their idea of that is,same for Maggie. They are not huge stars ala Kidman,Renne.etc, noone is doubting their talent but this is how the industry works and they appear mostly in independent movies. Now i am surprised Naomi never got Vogue cover but then again i found her pretty plain and boring so i dont care but she is a good actress.
