I'm sure it's been stated a dozen times before me but this collection is quite elegant! Maybe it is not vibrant enough to show in Paris but nonetheless it works. Very feminine and soft pieces, which I adore, so consider me a fan!

I'm so glad that Valentino retired. His designs have never been so chic like this. I can't believe I like a Valentino collection.

I really like this collection. I think it's very Valentino, but a different side that might not have been as exploited before. Give the woman a chance, she had a lot of pressure on her shoulders and I think she did very, VERY well, considering the high expectations she was facing.

Walking into Valentino's ateliers where people have worked for decades, set in their ways and getting them to produce a collection of this caliber is a feat in itself. She will only get better.

Where's the Valentino touch?

It's not that hard to copy Valentino (imo). He has the pretty standard jet-set look.

This lacks Valentino. It's not about copying him, this just outright lacks the Valentino touch. The palette is off for one.

NY rarely looks so good.
The palette (Black, cream, nude and RED) are quintessentially Valentino.

Valentino, by the way, often copied YSL(the original) a season after. He was never an innovator for all the beautiful things he's done.

I like the absence of red , she may not have wanted to step on his toes. I think it would be too easy to trawl and plunder the archives but wouldn't that just raise more questions over whether Valentino was ousted deliberately and it would serve no purpose to have a new designer that didn't bring a fresh vision. I think it is braver to try something new whilst remaining true to the original aesthetic of the brand.
