Valentino F/W 08.09 Paris

I also agree with you Aperture Romance, I like the absence of the red, I mean I loved it all because it was his signature but it would have been too much if she put more out because it would have seemed she was trying to play it safe and copy Valentino.

I think 2 (even though they weren't astonishing) were quite good enough for this time. I think theres a Valentino presence among this collection, yet something new and fresh on the table that she has brought. I really hope she does well and continues to succeed here. I like her a lot.

i only liked 4 things out of this whole collection..
it was a little disappointing :ermm:

Just easing herself in

It was fine... nothing to get excited about, but nothing to really diss either. Just fine

Some dresses are nice, some coats are cool but i am not sure about thw whole of the collection :ermm: But i don't want to criticize a lot because this is her first time and she was probably concerned about being the one after Valentino..

I think the collection was good, obviously it is somewhat different from the glamourous "jet set " ,"ladies who lunch" look we are used to from Valentino but only time will tell the direction that she will take the house ,so lets watch and see ,this is only the start of the journey !!!!

i am actually very happy that she got all this nice critics and that members in general liked it! i am basically happy that this didnt turn out like her first prefall collection she showed some months ago and everyone went  saying it was terrible.
i like that a woman is leading this big fashion house... we've seen what a man thinks a woman should look like for a long time, and i find it very exciting that now a woman can redefine that using the very same codes.
last but not least, i kinda like how she looks too. i think we are very used to see iconic designers like karl, john, stefano, or gaultier who have always a very defined iconic style, but that is not so common in women-designers. I really like her refined/porcelain-doll/sleek look. She seems very delicate and shy, yet strong and determined on how she likes things done.

noticed the gowns were all paired with cute flat shoes? cool, aint it?

^i expect worse things too, but i really like this collection!!!!!
this is one of my favorites. first i thought "omg thats boring" but when you look further you'll thing "yay..rafinesse!"

first off: YAH FOR A FEMALE DESIGNER IN PARIS! we rarely see that. i was so excited when i heard that Alessandra Facchinetti was going to be designing for valentino and i have to say she did pretty good for her first collection. i love that she took the valentino women off her pedestal, took the gloss off her face and nails, and made her more human. less wedding day perfect. its more modern that way. bravo

now, lets see what will happen with couture

This is beautiful, but I still have the feeling that something is missing

Yeah it definitely feels New York-ish, & not valentino, but ah well it's not like this is a surprise for anybody. I really don't care, I just imagine Valentino might not be too impressed with it.

Exactly !

I've never followed Valentino much so I think I'm viewing it different to those who are extremely familiar with Valentino , I'm less protective.

I like this better than real Valentino. It's more feminine and not as tacky.

With Valentino of the past, if the wrong person wore a piece, it turned out looking tacky.

With this, I feel that anyone could wear any piece and still look expensive and classy.

Thats what I love - it looks expensive the way Valentino should. No Barbie dresses and no hideous yellow numbers  :innocent:
