it could be worse... i don't like versace and i don't like this collection but a few pieces are nicer than i expected. the high waised thin belts over the dresses kind of ruin most of them for me though... there were some very nice long dresses last season, the one SJP wore on the cover of vogue was to die for, but the daywear was as bordering-tacky as usual, and this time is no exception...

Beautiful structures.
Does anyone else feel like the short beaded dresses completely overshadow the few long ones? I don't think the collection would've suffered if they had been nixed completely.
ETA - I wonder if the heart motifs were meant as an homage to YSL. Either way, his spirit has been all over the collections these past few weeks.

Agreed. The gown on Mariacarla is stunning, but I could have done without the rest. Love love all of the short ones.

Definitely agree. My eye goes straight to them everytime and I think that is kind of exciting that Versace went against their DNA a little to focus on the little "confections" I like to call! I love the ones on Isabeli Fontana and Natasha Poly. And for some reason, I cannot help but pick up a little of Egyptian vibe.

what a great continuation of the last season! (the runway coul've been different though...)
i am not sure if this is her best, but i think we could agree this is by far the most Gianni she has ever delivered!!!
i mean some fabrics, the use of print (which is probably not the way gianni did it, but even better, the updated version of his vision), the fantastic fetichism, the proportion, even the hair and make up, and the styling... just gorgeous perfection!
i dont know if it will look a bit dated down in the streets... but i say it's time for vintage versace to show up more everywhere (arent we tired of vintage chanel, vintage dior, vintage hervé leger??)
i think in milan, from the sexed-up designers gang, she is by far the one who has best adapted to new times and new ideas without looking like she is trying too hard.
after the rich-b*tch mania (i am using these words together so much lately i am starting to hate them) from the early 00' people like cavalli and dsquared and dolce and gabbana and other milanese hotsteppers seemed a bit lost facing the new various trends that were hitting other international catwalks (think neo-goth-romantic/girly/minimal/futurism/...). and while most of them just literally sold their soul to devil and embraced the new coming trends ignoring their creative background afraid of losing a spot on the market, Donatella just took the desition to tone her designs down a bit... just enough so that she wouldnt be considered totally out, but also respecting the fact that she had inherited her brother's empire and that what was best for her was to wait for more "versace-times" to come.
i think the 10 anniversary of Gianni's dead has made him very present in everyone's mind again during the last year, so maybe and hopefully we will be witnessing a big comeback of the original versace aesthetic, not only at the house of versace but as a general trend
