Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2003

Hi everyone!

I'm kinda new here and this is my first post.

I'm writing an article for my campus paper about the return of the Victoria's Secret fashion show, and trying to get some opinions (I'll be interviewing supporters and detractors of the show).

Since everyone here seems to know about the fashion industry, I'd like to ask a couple of questions, if you wouldn't mind helping me out:
Where does the VS show stand? Is there a sort of prestige for the models in being chosen for it, and does it rank with being chosen, for, say, a Roberto Cavalli or Dolce and Gabbana show?
In terms of merit, do people in the fashion industry take it as seriously?

Thanks in advance! I really appreciate the help!

No I don't think its been taken seriously. But if you are a model and you are in the show you've definitly made your mark in modeling.

Its not taken seriously as a fashion show in the sense that its covered by NYtimes or Style.com... it doesn't set any trends or anything.. its just mainly a commercial tool to promote Victoria Secret.. notice it is held around the holidays.. it is meant to boost up the holiday sales of the company.

In terms of prestige as a model, however, it is definately a coveted runway to be on.. the show is very commercial (its on TV!!).. so being on the show will definately get your face out there.. which is one of a model's main goal.. to get her face seen and gain some exposure.

I think its hard to compare a Roberto Cavalli show & a Dolce and Gabbana show to Victoria Secret (though some might disagree...).. because overall the models they use are pretty different in each show.. I mean yes.. high fashion models like Carmen Cass, Liya Kebede, etc.. might be in both the high fashion and VS runway show.. but models like Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum would not be in a Dolce & Gabbana show... while models like Gemma Ward, Hannelore Knuts would not be in a VS show... Overall though I think most girls would definately pick doing a VS show over say a show like Cavalli because in the end of the day.. Cavalli is just another fashion show like the 60 or so that the top models do per season.. while there is only one VS show and it is only once a year.

Hope I helped :flower: .. sorry its so long lol

Hmm.

Id like to see
Angela Lindvall
Jiesa
&
Bianca Balti

ViVa La Bianca:clap:

wasn't Angela's finger snapping performance in the last show, forgettable?

The finger snapping didn't bother me.. I thought it was different at least.. it was the cheesy come hither stare she did at the end

But Heidi's wink and smile performance topped that!

I heard about that Heidi lost her weights successfully..after having a baby boy....

She's working hard for the show

lol oh, i loved angela's walk (at least she acted like a model) - she had the attitude to pull it off....it was better than some - who relied on giggling, winking and looking into the cameras like little school girls playing dress up...what happened to being sultry and sexy?

yes i realise its VS and its meant to be a bit cheesy...:D

Along with the VS regulars, I'd like to see Valentina Z, Doutzen Kroes, and Jessica Miller.

it would be great to see Bianca! And Cameron Russell when she gets older! (but she is too young now!)

Thanks, CandiApple17 and CharlottefromCA. I really appreciate the help.

Just on a personal note, I'd like to see Stam at the VS show, but I'm probably in the minority on that.

I can see Bianca Balti doing the show!

^ i saw her earlier this month in real life and she wasn't thin, just normal... with a double chin thing... hm i wonder how a person of normal weight will function as a model on the runway wearing next to nothing being judged every moment

wow, a lot of people on this board have a really distorted perception of what equates FAT.

what i love especially is that this is allowed but people who complain about a model being too thin are told to stop. shouldnt it go both ways?

THANK YOU for pointing out the HYPOCRISY! Where are the mods deleting weight related discussion MAY I ASK??? And YES the majority of people on the forums have a VERY distorted body image problem.

Thin is in.....that's just how it goes......Being thin is beautiful.

Being healthy is beautiful. If you're naturally thin, that is wonderful. But Tyra is no where near being fat. And from what I can tell is still a healthy body weight.
