For sure VS is not couture, but VS is the 800 lb gorilla sitting in the middle of Fashion's living room, at least here in the USA. Everybody needs underwear. Not everybody needs a Versace or Valentino dress. And the VS models are still models to reckon with. Gisele & Karolina are still regularly featured in editorials in Ms Wintour's VOGUE! If VS (in Ms Wintour's view) were deemed to be too low rent - too cheesy - you can bet Gisele & Karolina would have been dumped as if they had the plague. Certainly, not all VS models (like Marisa Miller) are genuine fashion models. But many fashion models (like Gisele, K.K. & Isabeli Fontana) are VS models.

I'm in favor of the recent VS fashion model direction....I think they're moving more toward general fashion items anyway - makes sense!
