Vogue Italia January 2016 : Julia Garner by Steven Meisel

Oh I like it! It looks like it going to be a periodic editorial. I like.

Hmmm..very random actress choice. Julia has a silent screen throwback face and Im curious what Meisel (ALWAYS HAPPY TO SEE STEVEN!) has planned for the main ed. Garner must be on the verge of a film breakthrough? She attended a Mui Mui event so maybe thats the Meisel connection? I like the mood of the covershot, dark but optimistic at the same time.

I don't know what I should think about it, but I'm happy to see something by Meisel too.

2015 covers proved us something about Meisel for VI: He doesn't need extra gimmicks to keep us loving his covers.
This is great cover! Is it a foldout?

A new face? I like it. I personally found her unremarkable in Sin City, but she looks great here. Not sure what the reasoning was to give her this cover.
Is he she wearing a classic French hood? The styling's got me interested. Captures the moody January weather.

Never seen any of her movies, or heard of her, but its such a great face she is giving here.

Half a decade of Chanel January Covers from VOGUE ITALIA trumped by a black Louis Vuitton blouse.

this is absolutely forgettable... #teamtimwalker

she's pretty though.

I hate this. Maybe because it looks a little bit BarryLyndonish, which is one of my four fave films ever.... and I would expect something WAY better.

Also hate new actresses by Meisel (Mia's cover and ed were terrible). That formula never did it for me.

I like it.
I didn´t know who she was so I googled her, please VI don´t start with actresses on your covers!!! I don´t mind this one cause she´s not popular and this might be her first fashion cover (is it?) but I hope it´s not a new thing...

i had to google her, cause her name didn't ring any bells, but she look unrecognizable (i saw her in Grandma last year, she's pretty good in it). I don't get how she landed a VI cover but good for her. The cover itself is pretty meh, but maybe there's hope for the ed

You can't even tell that it's an "actress cover", come on. She has a very unique look, and it works really well with the styling. Gorgeous shot.

But I find really interesting how Meisel's cover stories for them after the big fallout seems to be much more of a personal work than a clear fashion story, not just the subject choices but the overall style. Excited to see it!

A decent cover, but it could have been shot by anyone really.

This probably means she's in the Miu Miu campaign.

I guess I'm in the minority in saying this ain't doin a thing for me.

Not gonna lie she looks more interesting and model-esque thant many of the top models of the moment. Not very familiar with her except for The Americans but this cover looks interesting. I love it when Meisel does period themed cover stories.

Anyone seen the full editorial?

I am waiting exciting as there is a fabulous new faces shot by Meisel!!
