Vogue Italia June 2017 : Bella Hadid by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

I really like most of the eds and the cover story is great! I don't know why Nathalie is even there actually....
She is jumping around and moving her hair but we cn't say that she brings anything.
The composition is great tho!

The Natalie snub is utterly disgusting. Both of them came to that shoot and delivered. She didn't deserve that tbh. And I'm not even that fond of her.

I don't even get by they felt the need to place "Bella by I&V". "Personal Best" was more than sufficient.

I like the editorial as per usual. It's a different I&V as I've said but it kinda works. However, I wish they used a 70s Font for the text because the editorial is giving me that vibe.

The rest of the editorials look good but all together, they look unrelated. There's no direction altogether

Natalie and Bella 's story are the best thing about this issue !

Also, just to comment on the magazine's new layout, the layout inside feels so underwhelming and boring. It's still the same cluttered magazine and features with the font changed to Futura I guess.

Wait WHAT? How on earth is that story "basically made" for Natalie? She brings nothing here, apart from being a prop to Bella!! Comments like this go to show that bias against Bella.etc means some of you are uncapable to give credit where its due.

What bias against Bella? I actually like her and I like the cover, but the mood of the story seems perfect for Natalie in my opinion. So even though Natalie is in only four shots, I prefer her dead face over Bella's here. Just because you like the editorial as it is doesn't mean everyone else does and it especially doesn't mean that I am bitterly hating on Bella just because I find another model more suitable for the story than her.

Seeing the full Bella + Natalie editorial, I'm even more appalled than I was before, because there are actually more photos of Natalie than it seemed from the preview. Yes, this is an editorial where Bella leads (and is one of the strongest edits I've ever seen from her, to be honest), but Natalie is far more present here than to just be a nameless accessory, which is what they've done by calling the edit "Bella by Inez & Vinoodh".

Shame.

*ding-ding-ding*

Shame.

I think Bella fits the Balthus (artist who inspired her ed) theme well. Not sure how Natalie fits in, her inclusion seems a bit odd.

They must have forgotten to include Natalie's name, I've seen it happen several times before in eds. Magazines frequently print apologies in forgetting to credit a person

I would never expect that everyone would like an ed just because I find it great, but claiming Natalie "slays Bella's exsistence", and calling the latter weak, and saying it was an ed made for Natalie read like bias against Bella to me. But again, that is just because i think Hadid really brought it here, and the ed is clearly shot around her as a main star. Natalie is a thousand times better model, but she does nothing for me here.

Must admit that I expected a whole lot more from the cover, considering it was well documented over social media that Bella had cut her hair especially for the Italian Vogue shoot. I was expectant of a cover image which showed off the hairstyle more (like those two closeups from I&V's editorial).

Aha! I've been trying to understand the reference and Balthus makes complete sense. Shooting this in The Greenwich Hotel designed by Axel Vervoordt, Bella haircut, including Natalie and Alex White styling. For the first time I really don't mind Bella.

Bella looks gorgeous on the cover + ed! I think I'm warming up to her, while I'm liking her sister's modelling work less and less.

On another note: doesn't "Bella" mean "Beautiful" in Italian? Maybe they want to play the word a bit in the title? I know I am thinking too stretched. -_-

Actually, I think you may be on to something there. :flower:

It's always interesting to see fashion magazines pay tribute to Balthus and his pervy infatuation with young girls. I find that innuendo very distracting. I know Countess Setsuko once said people have a right to their 'stupid opinions', but then Countess Setsuko herself was also the one who said 'I gave my life to him'. Great, what a way to define your worth! Anyway, there's so much more to him than this trite.

This is not a bad issue at all. Basically all Farneti is doing here is going into the vault, and updating VI's greatest hits. Anyone could do this, you don't need special skill or vision to perfect it. It would be interesting to see him put his own stamp on this.
I do quite like the sophisticated set and lighting of the main editorial. It's a shame how Natalie got relegated as a supporting cast in the edit (it's not the first time she's used as a prop in VI ). Both were equally great in this edit.
Also, Ethan James Green's story is superb. It's all about Karlie, and her dramatic poses. It's features like these which proves that she'd have held her own next the likes of Dovima and Carmen, many years ago.
