Vogue Japan October 2016 : Kendall Jenner by Luigi & Iango

I have to say that the B&W photos are really great. Even if i hate having Louis Vuitton on the cover of every magazine, the Vuitton outfit with the Chapka could have been a perfect cover. It's quite strong.

She looks so much like her mother when she is wearing heavy make-up.
ADR did a great job.

Much better than her Vogue US editorial, I love the goth/military styling of this, I can't believe they leave the Marc Jacobs platform boots out of this.

God that expressionless stare. Literally looks like a cardboard cut-out. Don't vibe it at all. At least Wednesday Addams was intriguing with her blank stare.
This.

I mean can she emote? I feel like she seriously needs a round of ANTM. Smize. Connect. Do something. This kind of 'modeling' shouldn't be acceptable.

The Comme des Garcons picture would be amazing if her face could do something more, but the pose is good.

LOL

Who would've thought her stare outdoes Wednesday's in its total blankness!

...Works for me though... She finally got a look right.

Lol. I highly doubt it. But if you know the reason don't hesitate to share it..
If a photographer put out a 13 pic editorial with a model having the same exaggerated facial expression and seems proud of their work, then I am going to go with it being part of their instruction to the model and a part of the story they are trying to convey to readers. LOL if kendall was 'smizing' in the pics it would be so wrong.

Except that she has this "exaggerated facial expression" in all of her work, so no, completely unintentional.

The sad thing is: Kendall doesn't need to be a good model cause she has 60 million followers and clearly she doesn't make an effort to become better at it.

she is tragic, looking forward to the day she retires. It should not be acceptable to be such a terrible model

The wardrobe in the editorial is so tiring and heavy. Kendall's dull face doesn't help either. But Anna dello Russo is the worst, I'm sick of her work for this magazine.

Luigi and Iango share all their editorials on social media with a sense of pride. The editor is also to blame. Were they running out of time or these were the only printable pics? A good model can easily change her expression multiple times and then change outfits. But here, it looks like they only took one shot at a time and decided it was the one to publish. I can't believe they can shoot amazing things and deliver beautiful, intense photographs such as Odette Pavlova's Vogue Germany editorial and then shoot this. This could be said for lots of photographers, stylists and editors.

That's a very interesting thing you've pointed out. I think it goes on to show that every member of a team matters equally and that despite one's efforts to elevate a shoot, if one of the players is not on par - it will most likely turn out average at best.

This shoot was done in May after the Cannes festival. The editorial is a 20 picture editorial, surely if Anna and Luigi/Iango were unhappy with the finish product, they had plenty of time to reshoot, recast or limit it to just a few pics but they published a 20 pages editorial of Kendall having a tense face, wide eyes that is even exaggerated by the heavy makeup. It is part of the story they are trying to convey. No way, they wanted her smiling in one pic, smizing in another...but to each is to own...^_^
