Vogue Paris May 2008 : Julianne Moore by Mario Testino

I couldn't even comment properly on the cover, it looks so wrong.. I don't care if they took someone completely out of her element.. like it hasn't been done before.. sometimes I just wish Carine would be more cynical or just honest enough to finally put herself on her own cover.. fans would be thrilled and hopefully she'd stop making such lame tributes of herself month after month..

:D just what i was thinking...

i was expecting something exciting, so i dont like the cover, it is so 'nostalgic', carine still dreaming about her youth..

the editorials are totally out of tune for a may issue, i dont want to see more winter after the shows, i want spring/summer images to get me on the mood
carine is trying so hard to do it 'first' that she's missing the point altogether.. no wonder PV sells so little in france

thanks for the scans Berlin and everyone who posted them :flower:

Julianne's ed please!
I've scanned it....
I said it Julianne has 8p. in VP.... including 3 photos (one double page)... I posted two photos as the third one is just a small reproduction of the cover picture....
The rest is an article... in french...
I could scan it later, if you understand french or want to improve your french....:flower:

Sorrenti never fails to deliver! Lara looks amazing!

The other editorials are a little dissapointing though. :ermm: I think that Richardson's is tacky, as expected. I like the concept of Raquel's editorial, but the idea could have been executed in a more visually interesting way. Collete's, however, is not half bad. Granted, not amazing... but better than I thought it would be.

I really dont get Laras appeal most of the time but I really like the ed by Sorrenti, its soft and lovely and she really does look innocent, the photography and styling is just brilliant!:D

Could anyone scan the 2 pages of Printemps ads with Raquel? It would be really appreciated :flower:

is there a supplement?
does she have a movie coming out or something?

oh that's all there is of julianne? that's disappointing....i thought for sure there would be more

It seems there's a supplement called "La Gazette", but I hadn't received it...
Guess, non-suscribers would tell more about this....

about Julianne and a movie.... I heard nothing about it coming up in France...
here is what imdb says :

  1. Morgan's Summit (2009) (in production) .... Gracie Holls
  2. Boone's Lick (2010) (pre-production) .... Mary Margaret
  3. Hateship, Friendship, Courtship (2008) (pre-production)
  4. Shelter (2009) (filming) .... Cara
  5. The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009) (filming) .... Kat
  6. Blindness (2008) (post-production) .... Doctor's Wife
    ... aka Cegueira (Brazil)

i was wondering the same thing ^, given her recent harpers bazaar cover and now this. but no complaints even if she isnt promoting anything....i like julianne :D

:woot: OMG Lara is on a roll,2 eds for her,the terry one is so warm and angelic, i love this issue. def on my to buy list.

I so very much agree with what you two said.

Carine may be worshipped by some, but i think she is often way overrated and bland, its the same thing done over and over again.

VP is the cheapest fashion magazine in my country and i still wont buy this issue.

Someone like Lucinda Chambers has an actual range and can do variety of different styling from sexy to conservative to glamorous or elegant.etc i have never seen that in Carines work.

^ Obviously you haven't really paid attention to Carine's work, because not all the editorials she styles are overly sexy and sexual...

^^I have actually and there is no great range in her work, i am not saying its all sexy or overtly sexual but yes most part of it, and when i compare her work to other stylist like Chambers well she lacks their diversity, but thats just my opnion.

She can do very different things IMO. The point is, she wasn't hired for that. As someone pointed out, Vogue Paris doesn't sell extremly well in France, and I don't think their aim is to go mainstream.. Carine does what people want her to do, this magazine is a niche: it's about luxury, beauty, sex... This is how a lot of people see France, and Paris in particular: liberal, excessive and beautiful... If I want to see boring fashion, i'll buy Vogue US. If I want to see plain fashion, I'll buy Vogue UK. If I want to see artsy fashion, i'll buy Vogue Italia. But I like my Vogue Paris to be a... visual orgasm. I understand that might not be of some people's liking, but this is what I expect every month!

I never saw "sex"( in your sense) in paris maybe in berlin,Amsterdam ( could you find a city more liberal than A?) and Barcelona more, but def. not in Paris

^Funny that you mention A'dam, because it's not that liberal anymore in a 'sex' sense but thats a whole different discussion.

It's not like I said you can see live sex in the streets of Paris  I said that France and Paris are seen as rather liberal. You see plenty of nudity in French magazine and French movies, and Paris is a rather libertine city IMO (especially if you have money and knows the right spots, but this goes for most big cities in the world). I mean, the Sexodrome in Pigalle in a sight to behold

sure i didin`t meat live sex on the streets ( that`s why i even put that words in quotation marks) i mean the atmosphere. you know, Paris had that atmosphere in 20-ies, when Henry Miller lived there- that was really liberal, and now ...maybe Paris is not that prudish, but it`s a little different point that we`re talking about
so were very offtopic right now)
