Vogue Paris May 2009 : Daria Werbowy by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

sadly another lackluster issue. the cover looks like one of those awful glossy magazines
they give you on the airplane

^ I just scanned those. :innocent:

I'm not going to post them since you already did.
I'm posting them on my blog anyway.

Daria's edit is great, even if the styling is lackluster! I love the high-action, kung-fu nature.

that's something interesting you raised about the styling ...
as to me it was a surprise to see this editorial got 14p. and 1st position in the fashion editorials ...
but i like the styling, as, for once, it's something anyone can wear (and must wear !) this summer on beachsides ...
VP is not used to show in 1st position editorial like this ... When Alt styles bikinis and gets the 1st place it's more unwearable-unswimable swimsuits (remember Raquel - again - like last year or 2 yrs ago ?) ... there it's really street-common style ! that is a surprise to me ...

but maybe it's not that important ...

I do enjoy everyone likes the Eva's editorial ! It's a good one !

merci Diorette and cadg for the scans !
;)

I think I'm going to buy this one.The last two eds are great too. It's too bad really, I haven't been enthusiastic about the last few issues but I liked a few eds, which wasn't enough to make me buy them (the last ones by E.Alt featuring Anna.s).

Oh God, two eds styled by Barbieri in one issue ? I died and went to heaven !

Thanks Diorette. :)

The last two eds are good too. Overall I think this is a decent issue. Not the best, but good. Thanks for the scans.

You're right, it is wearable. And I love denim and bikinis. The thing that bothered me was that it was pretty much the same look repeated 15 times. I would have preferred to see more variety.

I do remember the Raquel edit from a couple of years ago. Again, shot by I&V in some exotic locale. It was a gorgeous edit, with transparent accessories. But, you're right, it wasn't nearly as wearable as Emmanuelle's edit. The clothes in Carine's edit in this issue, if you look past the peekaboo-ness, are actually quite wearable as well.

WOW! I love Malgosia's edit! Such gorgeous, natural photography! I love how they are making use of fresh photographers! And it is always nice to see Anastasia back at VP!

thank you sooo much Diorette for all of these scans this issue is absolutely a-mazinggggg

I am totally blown away at how gorgeous Daria looks in the 'Beauté' section.
Malgosia looks incredible as usual. Especially in the last shot.
Sara has impressed me with her shots from the 'En Vogue' feature. I love the last shot.

Good ed of Malgosia the best of the mag

It's great to see all these scans....but it seems really that VP has lost it's touch. :ninja:

Malgosia looks great in that ed, and I like the sensual texture of the messy sand, with the man's silhouette overshadowing her in some of the shots.

For me, most of the editorials lack that added dimension that makes Vogue Paris compellingly different to other magazines. But every magazine goes through phases where the magic fades slightly.

When a Paris Vogue isn't great, I'm always torn as to whether to get it. I bought last month's issue and didn't really bother looking at it afterwards - yet I know I'd regret not buying it at all.
