Please, just erase the word "Squad" from the fashion world!
is the editorial a Gucci advertorial?

Clearly not enough photoshop and color filters.

All the girls look stunning, but the editorial is kinda boring.

No, it has many other brands, and it shows the pre-fall 2016 collections.

I understand what Koko means. The aesthetic of the entire edit looks more Gucci than anything else, even though the looks comes from different brands.

the squad goals editorial is great..i love irina in gucci it's so unexpected

SM has ruined so many components of high fashion for me— down to the word “squad’ LOL

The Klein/ Enninful story is very nice work. I’ll gladly take a group of models with a story to just one against a white seamless. The color filters actually work in its favour this time— even if Klein may not realize it. It gives that cool but subversive late-60/ early-70s political movement vibe. The styling is more an ode to classic YSL with a nod to Foxy Brown and Black Panther than anything Current-Gucci, really. I can hear the Willie Hutch shakedown soundtrack to the shots…

W is so uneven and directionless under Tonchi: This edit is the type of skilled work that's befitting a fashion publication-- then they go and stoop as low as possible with the Lopez shoot, that seems to be aimed at the tween fans of Ariana Grande just weened from Barbie.

Steven Klein's is the only fashion editorial in this issue. What's going on with W? Are they having budget problems?

^ I was wondering the same thing!! Its been so painfully thin for the last year or two, even their March/Sept issues!! And its just nothing there ,same eds, NOTHING decent to read, at this point i feel like W isn't worth the (cheap) paper its printed on, smh!

Wouldn't surprise me if they're going through tough times, especially when you look at the lack of actual written content. And their digital platforms are really not that interesting either. I find myself easily flipping through the issue at the agents, with zero incentive to take purchase it. Tonchi said that McCarthy's W was very haughty and out of touch, but at least it never lacked in relevance.

The problem with doing one edit spreads is that it really needs to be exceptionally good and diverse in terms of photography/setting. Dutch Vogue often does this and it actually works even when there's only one model.

I think most fashion magazines are going through tough times. Most March issues were a lot thinner compared to last year's ones, including Vogue, Elle etc. Magazines no longer release the figures of the ad pages for their big fashion issues (remember those nice little WWD articles?), which makes sense since most of them must have steadily declining ad sales. If these big titles are having financial problems, then the much smaller titles, like W, must surely be affected as well.

Tonchi also said that McCarthy's W was out of touch with reality and not of service to brands and designers. So he took a niche publication, and over 5 years, turned it into a mainstream magazines that desperately tries to fit in the zeitgeist without having any distinctive point of view. I can literally flip through an issue in three minutes and nothing is tempting enough to read or contemplate for more than 5 seconds. Real shame. At least I have my old W issues to pore over when I'm feeling nostalgic.
