Why do you like/hate John Galliano?

(Having said all of this, considering Christian's obsession with collecting lucky charms -- a very specific few he always carried with him -- why hasn't anyone in Accessories picked up on that and made a bracelet, keychain, necklace, SOMETHING incorporating those original charms???)

Dior star  keg chain

Galliano's reign at Christian Dior will be remembered more than Christian Dior Himself. Its Galliano's House and as long as Mr. Toledano and the Arnaults are happy than GALLIANO CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS WITH THE HOUSE OF DIOR!!!! Galliano did to Dior what Tom Ford did with Gucci. It bothers me when self righteous people try to make it seem like the designers have to answer to them!!! stop your grandstanding!!!!!

It's a love-hate thing for me. I look forward to his shows b/c of his great showmanship. It's just that he presents this outrageousness (cool outrageousness) on the runway, but there's something different in the showroom. I don't like that you don't really know what to expect for the wearable pieces. Plus all his dresses look the same to me (the flowy chiffon with ruffles accenting certain parts).

I wish he'd go the Alexander McQueen way. What you see is what you get, PLUS a great show!

some of his designs reek of genious, but his clothes, even the ready to wear ones are unwearable for me. Not that i could afford them if i wanted to:P

Self-righteous? Moi??? Hahahaha. I know Galliano will be remembered for Dior more than Christian himself -- but that's my problem. Christian was a genius! Why should his efforts and movements be forgotten for the sake of some talented but idiotic designer who derives inspiration from 'a balloon trip over egypt'. It would be like Julien Macdonald taking the reigns at Jil Sander and filling it with logos and bright color -- yes he is an amazing designer but it wouldn't be appropriate for the label. The reason Arnault lets Johnny get away with all this is because each costume he sends down the runway translates into another 10,000 saddle bags sold. And as for Tom Ford....don't even get me started on that overrated hack. *gasp!*

Amazing designer??? He's the poor man's Versace ( Except Versace did excess and gaudiness well) and did you see what he did while at Givenchy??? Hardly amazing.

People can say what they want about Galliano but come on, he and MacDonald are in two completely different categories of designer....at least John has talent.

you speak the truth

Hahahaha 'poor mans Versace' -- love it, love it, love it. I don't disagree that John has talent! I'm saying I think his work has done detriment to the legacy of Dior! I love what Galliano does for his own line, but I don't like it when he sticks a Dior label on his pieces! It's piggybacking someone else's fame to make a true name for yourself (yes he was big before, but now people put him into a 'legends' category). And personally, I think McQueen was the best Givenchy ever had, followed by Galliano, followed by the girl they've got now, followed by MacDonald.

Poor Man's Versace....still cracks me up!

I like him because his clothes are interesting and unique.

I hate him because they get so interesting and unique that they turn gaudy and outrageous.

I felt the last Dior couture was a little transparent for me. I'm sure Galliano knows his clients, but if I was a 50 year old lady with a very large cheque-book, i still wouldnt splash out £5,000 on a gown that you could see most of me in. It's true he is a genius, and his a/w 2004 couture collections was one of my favourite shows ever, but it's the fact that the boutiques have to be filled with that awful pink logoed trash to fund it all that gets me. Their sales figures would prove me wrong I'm sure though.

I Just Love Him

 I love Him, because He simply makes me dream. He paints
my life with every color he uses and then it goes into my veins and
full me of energy; and the music!! o h! T H E M U S I C,
It Sticks in my head forever and sweetens my hours...

 I love him because he is a romantic...
I think a romantic man is a good lover and a good lover
makes you feel unforgetables things.

 And this romantic man is Hopelessly in love with clothes
This poet man writes a hidden poem in every design..
you just see and your heart is beating hardly
He leads you into a colorful fantasy, into a strange dream...

I just love his passion, because passion is what keeps me alive...

I love him because his clothes are crazily unique:woot:

i hate him becasue all clothes are transformed into Dior logo flowers, dior logo rasta, dior logo pink, dior logo girly.

i still do not understand why people hate him because of the logo thing ... everyone does logos  but at least he gives incredible fashion shows and i think that he will rather see some more women carrying his runway creations, but we know most women won´t........

actually it's not that i hate him. what i really want is to shake him hard and shout " John where are your wonderful pics on the runway. i can't find them in boutique."

btw, maybe logos are for asian countries. maybe u can get galliano's mad pics in Paris Boutique

Logos are like wasting his effort and our admire for him. so i feel "wasted"
