Your personal fashion rules

This coming from the guy who would never wear nova check :innocent:
I'd wear Nova Plaid...if the background was like acid green and the check was shocking pink...

mmm...i love anything plaid or houndstooth...unless it's that navy and yellow plaid...

i don't wear logos
i don't wear platform shoes
i almost never wear prints...unless it's very graphic or blk/wht
i don't wear earrings
i never wear polish on my fingers
my toes are either burgundy or nude
i never bare my midriff
i always wear a bra...no push ups :yuk:
i never wear a miniskirt and high heels together
i never match my shoes to my bag
i wear mostly solid cool colours-navy, deep plum, burgundy, dk grey...a bit of red...
lots and lots of black and dark neutral colours...it really just looks best with my blk hair
i always wear lipgloss and mascara
i never button my shirt cuffs
i never tuck in my shirt
i wear lots of scarves instead of major jewelry
i always try to have a little necklace on
i don't wear real jewelry with stones of any kind...just gold and silver and leather and cording and sometimes beads...very sculptural...mostly jill platner and elsa perretti
i wear vintage rhinestone jewelry...esp love pins!!!
i never...ever...wear pearls
i wear a lot...and i mean A LOT...of boots...
i also have a weak spot for cropped pants
i wear a lot of loose and unconstructed clothing...nothing 'frilly'
i love androgyny...my ex and i had several of the same pieces in our wardrobes...
i prefer to wear clothes that enhance my figure rather than reveal it...

i try not to look like anyone else without looking like a freak...hahaha

 :innocent:

are those rules...maybe they're just preferences?...

just a few:

I never wear beige/yellow near my face-washes me out terribly
no visible panty lines
no logos
not more than one trend at a time-if I wear a trend it is just that one
no fur

aside from that, I wear what feels good to me!

I really don't believe in fashion rules per say, but I do believe in some minor "guidelines".

First and foremost, never mix your prints. It works on a runway, not in reality.

I try not to mix black and navy although I have a midnight blue dress shirt that I wear with a black suit and monochromatic tie, so I guess I break that rule.

No white jeans........should be self explanitory

Don't bare too much, it's either back, cleavege or legs, not all at once.

No socks with open shoes, ever.

No acid washed jeans, ever.

Don't match your denim, you'll look like one of those "gangstas" that wear the jeans with matching jacket, matching colored seams, with matching shirt, matching shoes, matching 'do rag........don't match your denim, it is not a suit!

No red and orange together, it's too garish looking.

No white socks with dress shoes!

um, that's about it for me.

When I said socks with open shoes, I mean actually socks. Tights are fine.

And like I said, I'm guilty of the black/navy combo :innocent: and not to sound arrogant, but I look pretty damn good when I break that rule :P

As far as prints, I guess it can look okay if the prints are of a similar style, like two abstract prints, or two florals, but I don't know why, I just don't love the look of something graphic against a floral......but then again, I don't love prints to begin with, so mabye I'm a tad biased B)

But as you said, vive le diference, that's what makes the (fashion) world go round! :flower:

inspired combinations and unusual details are a must. :P

;) i'm not alone :flower:

Never wear anything that; a) Paris Hilton B) Pamela Anderson or c) Britney Spears has worn.

Apart from almost everything already mentioned in this thread (though franky I don't agree with, and haven't even heard of, the no-black-and-navy rule...), personally I think it's a tragic lack of common sense to pair linen with winter weight fabrics like felted wool. It doesn't look right, and doesn't make sense.

Don't go overboard with a retro look. If you're wearing a dress that's inspired by the 50's, try to modernize it by pairing it with modern accessories and hair/makeup.

Not a rule, more of a preference.

anything goes for me..whatever I like, I wear. don't really have rules ;)
but I tend to avoid the 'trashy' trends.
I don't like too many neon colours..
