Does anyone know if a live stream is being shown online? Either of the show itself or the red carpet.

Ugh Mark Wahlberg. I am so excited to see Adele and hear her speech.

There are too many has-beens and not enough up-and-comers on that presenter list. It's also missing a lot of viable foreign actors. Where's Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Cucumberwhatever (the guy who's going to be in Star Trek)?

Has-beens? Who are the has-beens? I quite like how this year most of the presenters are actually Oscar nominees or winners. And most of the up-and-coming actors go to the Vanity Fair party, anyway. They probably felt that they didn't need to rely on the young stars this year (outside of Kristen Stewart) because they already have Jennifer Lawrence looking likely to win Best Actress, Adele performing (and also looking likely to win) and the musical tribute. Quite refreshing, really.

Kristen Stewart is one of the very few people who must not (for now maybe) place foot on the red carpet for the Oscars. Why is she there, presenting at the same ceremony as Streep and Neeson? Just no.

Other than that, I can't wait for the red carpet and later....Adele <3
When does the red carpet and the show start ?

Benedict Cumberbatch. Literally, don't know why they've invited Kristen Stewart. That she's a big star, I get. But she's not very eloquent...even when she's reading from a teleprompter. Otherwise, while I don't think it's a bunch of has-beens, most on that list are still viable stars and/or legends, but it does look quite dated. And honestly, I think it would make more sense for Cumberbatch to be there than John Travolta. But that's just me.

I would like a few more people to attend - either for fashion-reasons or for an extra-wow-factor:

naomi watts, carey mulligan, keira knightley, emma watson, mia wasikowska, scarlett johansson, blake lively, michelle williams, sofia coppola, kirsten dunst, eva mendes, natalie portman, gwyneth paltrow, ryan phillipe, josh hartnett, ryan reynolds, ryan gosling, michael fassbender

...Kristen Stewart? Really?

Literally, she's there for "Snow White and the Huntsman", it has 2 nominations. And this is ridiculous cause she probably wants to forget about this movie as soon as possible, if you know what I mean.

I didn't even think of that . How awkward.

Maybe calling them has-beens was too harsh. I should say it is heavy on old-school talent (Hoffman, Nicholson, Douglas) versus the new school (Fassbender, Hardy. Cumberbatch). It's a bit too light on foreign actors. Where's Blanchett? Judy Dench..etc?

Well, Judi Dench is getting old. Look at all the effort it took to get Emmanuelle Riva here (granted she is 86, but still...) She has absolutely no reason to turn up unless they had nominated her for Skyfall.

Cate Blanchett is in Australia. She already presented two years ago. She's not like Nicole Kidman, Halle Berry or Reese Witherspoon who are all in close proximity and are willing to present whenever.

And to be honest, except for maybe Cumberbatch, Hardy and Fassbender (who is busy filming, anyway) don't seem like the type to show up unless they are nominated. They're probably doing their own thing. I think there are a lot of 'low-key' actors out there nowadays that make rare public appearances. I do feel like Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley fit into this category. To fly all the way to LA seems a bit pointless.

And if you ask me, I love seeing Nicholson, Hoffman and Douglas. They don't act as much nowadays, so to see them out and presenting is always fun. Especially Nicholson who always has a front row seat reserved for him.

why not Emma Watson, Lilly Collins or Felicity Jones???

I hope Emmanuelle Riva, Tommy Lee Jones, Argo, DDL win!

Pointless from a point of view concerning acting and all but not concerning fashion! For me it would be great seeing them on the red carpet ...just saying! :flower:

The Oscars is supposed to be the biggest event in acting though since it recognizes movies and performances from all over the globe. It should be an honor for all these "low-key" actors to show up --not an inconvenience. Carey Mulligan managed to make it over for the Grammy's so a trip for the Oscars isn't asking too much.

I noticed a lot of American actors who weren't nominated for anything turned up at the BAFTA's this year.

Carey Mulligan attended because she is married to frontman of the band that won Album of the Year! And she made such a discreet appearance there were only, about, two pictures of her.

Anyway, ew.com has been posting some awesome pictures from behind the scenes the past four days: http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20311937_20676704,00.html Looks like Jennifer Garner and Jessica Chastain are presenting together.

Completely agree!
I don't think there is anything wrong when an actor that was already nominated or was once a winner, showed up every year to the oscars! I think people like Streep, Kidman, Blanchett, Moore, Dicaprio, Affleck, Freeman, Eastwood deserve to be there and should actually accept that honor, whenever they can.
the real problem is when people like Kristen Stewart, Zoe Saldana, Jessica Alba, and so on, take their places....
