Alexander McQueen F/W 2007.08 Paris

i don't like it.most of the pieces look ugly and awkard

Cant wait see the video... The theatrics of the show look out of this world. The theme, make up, styling, is getting me so excited.

My comment on the actual clothes... still undecided. Its all a bit to much for me to take in?

that's a sticky question, huh...
obviously, the runway is costume, but then we get to the "fashion" part, and there's never much.
that is, the showroom collection is rather unimaginative. but there are moments...when he puts a look on the runway that has so much street cred, i can think of the original tailoring from f/w '04...

*btw, what's with the pentagram...it's makes me uneasy when people play around with that symbol carelessly, it has such a history! and people taking it lightly, or in a silly manner..not good. :ermm:
pastry, do you mean what you see on the runway is translated into something else in the showroom?

I really liked the collection, some of the dresses were amazing as well as the bags. Not McQueen at his best but still some nice pieces that once modified I would be interested in looking at.

There were some great dress, i really loved the gold-blue colour combination. ^_^

McQueen work is sooo deepert and more clever than fashion's editors seem to think. They only see the evident part of it (ie: the egyptian theme). But this has nothing to do with Galliano. This is even not "theatric" or "excentric". This is not art-wannabe, I think his work is sincere. This is pure poetry. Pure dark poetry. This is Baudelaire. It's not a "copy-paste" of something (Galliano's influences and themed collections are just useless and tacky because they are too evident and do not requiere anything from the people who is willing to appreciate it). Beauty - in McQueen shows - is always strange, bizarre, or gloomy. Sometimes there is pervertion.

The bags are really tacky but he has to... because of course, his "real" work can't be sold. I don't like 50% of the stuff in his stores because his masterpieces are even not produced as it would certainly be too expensive. I loved the victorian themes better, bebacuse it was really aetheral but at least he's moving forward.

Part 1

Part 2

I prefer the previous couple of seasons. Especially the sets.

Can anyone read what it says at the end? Elizabeth....something

I'm very disappointed, as McQueen is one of my fav's. Except for the floorlength gowns, there's hardly anything i liked. And i HATE masks on catwalks. It ruined the whole show for me, to be honest.

I love everything!:buzz: The make-up is so beautiful! And the cloth! And I love the styling, the moon in Anna's hair^_^

I've got to be honest, this isn't his best collection by any means. But I still like it. After so many seasons of either straight up commerciality or "signature" McQueen, this is so very refreshing.

I'm still not sure that I get the Egyptian influence, because really most of the collection wasn't Egyptian at all (in the area of being able to seamlessly meld completely different influences, I'd say Galliano bests him by far.)

But even still, this was the McQueen I love, dark, aggressive and otherworldly.

I do agree that this isn't his best collection...I do love it though

I don't love this collection, but some of the dresses are stunning, and I love the make up and even the presentation.
I don't agree with style.com saying that the presentation detracted from the clothes - that's something Viktor&Rolf do. I think it complimented the clothes, especially the contrast between the black and red runway and the gold long sequined dress.
But I do agree with whoever said it's a nice change from the Victorian Lace of last season. It's been awhile since McQueen has done something like this - and it is nice to see.

That said, Paris has been somewhat of a let down for me, and this, along with Balenciaga have been my favourites.

It's kind of funny that the pieces I thought were the best are unlikely to make it into stores....
