Alexander McQueen S/S 11 Paris

I don't post on TFS regularly anymore...
Because after a few years of observing the phenomenon of technology, particularly the internet, and how it has contributed to fashion, to clothes..it's not altogether positive. And I chose to remain an observer rather that an active participant.

But I would just like to exclaim that this is beautiful!
In my humble opion, Sarah Burton did a magnificent job for her first collection for Alexander McQueen. Let the ready-to-wear crowd do what they do, be it wrong or right. Only time will tell.

But to create such a visual feast, that is, at once, humble and intelligent and vibrant and strong, is an accomplishment. It doesn't pretend to be anything other than a collective of gorgeous traditional craft. It is sort of removed from "everything else". I would like to underline that this is imporant work. Important for creativity and intelligence, joy, and all our other emotions.

I'm only guesstimating, but these clothes, these images seem so honest. Some may be familiar with this feeling...when you hand yourself over to a state of work that is so free, the craft becomes a sort of religious experience.

Overall, of course, these are just clothes. And for all I know, next season will be about techno, or bananas, or what have you. But I hope that Sarah Burton sticks to a vision of craft and lightness as she mentioned.

i simply cannot agree more. there's nothing more that can be said. seriously, but for alexander mcqueen himself rising from the grave and taking a bow at the end of this collection, i don't know how she could've crafted a more perfect show.

and those shoes are simply objets d'art....:crush:

conceptually wise it is lovely collection. at a glance it is very much mcqueen, though more like a tribute to mcqueen.
the suits at the start turned me off. the tailoring was a big given sign that house of mcqueen no longer have mcqueen. it is obvious sarah burton is more of a dress maker herself than a tailor.
there is not much of a central theme to this collection. still very much in a stage where it is 'the best of...'

if the house can get a new creative director for tailoring that would be great.

the back view of Monika's look. I admit the collection is exquisite looking, what superbly crafted clothes these are. And the shoes are just..

I really wish people would stop using these NowFashion photos. their weak quality can really kill a collection.

I really didn't like this collection when I saw the crappy shots, but after seeing proper pictures, I think its brilliant.

^Yeah it has crappy quality, but they're the ones we use first because the site uploads them when the show is ongoing.

I think it's beatuiful, and my favourite this season. But it's basically a reinterpretation of past collections. Lee was creating something totally new every season and it's sad thinking we will never witness his genius again.

1. Simply the best from Paris, Sarah did a magnificent job. Best replacement in the history of fashion.
2. What is the theme of this collection? creationism? because i feel all the adam/eve atmosphere from this collectioin (the hair, the butterflies/leaves galore)
3. The butterfly shoes!!!!!!

I'm surprised how this collection is done. I think it's very good. Alexander should be happy to see it. It feets perfectly th e brand logic.

The more I look at this collection the more I love it. For some really strange reason I seem to be digesting this collection with more ease than when Lee did it before. I love the gown with the gold bodice and the feathers and the shoes. The shoes themselves could have been the only things sent down the runway and I'd still be marveling at the collection, thats how much I love them.
