Andrea Casiraghi

From trf: Andrea Casiraghi and his girlfriend Tatiana Santo Domingo visit the RAC (Reception and Action Center), temporary detention center opened in 1992 and the MYRC (Manila Youth Reception Center), a jail for minors located opposite the RAC here, at the MYRC., 08/25/2006.

Look at their body language with matching handclasps and slightly leaning to he left. It must be love:lol:

Oy she's standing by his side for official duties. That's more serious than just attending a gala or family celebration. She's his official companion.

Andrea's forum at the Ateneo de Manila University finished an hour ago! The small venue was jampacked - mostly girls - and some people were reduced to watching him from the glass structure. Tatiana was with him; she looks prettier in person. I'd say that she looked at ease and approachable.

Andrea seemed nervous at first, but better as he went along. The organizer said that Andrea was only expecting a handful of people and got a bit panicky when he was told that more than a hundred students signed up. He struck me as sincere in his charity work - at one point, he mentioned the children living in Payatas, this place that's a huge garbage dump, and some people laughed. And he said that it was nothing to laugh about. The organizer also mentioned that they wanted to include some rest & recreation for him, but Andrea politely declined as he wanted to make the most of his visit for work. Apparently, it was Andrea's idea to have the two forums with the youth.

Well, basically, Andrea's speech was mainly to tell the audience- composed mainly of elite students who come from the upper 10% of society in the Philippines - not to isolate themselves while 90% of their counterparts live terrible lives. He also said that for a poor country, the country seems to be more developed than other poor countries; he has seen many luxurious places for the rich here, yet many, many more live in poverty. He also said that he won't answer questions because the audience should be the ones asking themselves questions.

He comes across just as I'd have imagined at his first major royal gig. I told you lot that he was a sincere guy with his charity work, especially when he told the students that they shouldn't be laughing about the children of Payatas' situation.

He is another excerpt of a member from trf who attended the forum.

Anyway, I still CANNOT believe I have seen Andrea Casiraghi in person! The guy is just so gorgeous for words, just really, really beautiful--perfect skin, wonderful jawline, and as the cliche goes...pictures do not do him justice at all (he seemed taller too, makes me wonder how tall Pierre really is). Tatiana looked way prettier in person, but the simple, girl-next-door type of pretty, and a lot more...lighter-colored, I guess, as her pics make her look.

One thing that struck me about him was his intensity. I used to think that he was this easy-going, surfer dude type of guy but then you hear him speak about his cause, and wow, he is just sooo passionate about it and so serious that I just can't help wondering how lucky Tatiana is that she ended up with all that lovely package. He seems like a no-nonsense kind of guy, especally for one so young, and he didn't react at all to the flattery heaped on him when he was introduced. He certainly seems like someone you wouldn't want to mess with.

I am disgusted that his audience laughed when he talked about the horrid conditions of the children's lives. What were they thinking? Were they drunk or just plain stupid? He should have told them off. That was really stupid of them. All those idiotic girls just turning up to see Andrea and drool over his looks. How pathetic is that?

I know! They said that the students attending were upper class, and unfortunately like anywhere else in the world, they don't really have a true perspective of what life is really like for the majority of people who aren't as fortunate as them.

Here are more pics from trf of Andrea and Tatiana visiting Clark, where are lot of children are ill from water contamination.

This is a lovely photo:D

I'm not being rude but I don't like people who wear sunglasses when talking to people. Eye contact is such an essential factor in communicating.

This pic makes me laugh:woot:

Here's a transcript of Andrea's speech at the student forum (from a member at trf)

Complete speech of Andrea - Youth Forum at the Ateneo de Manila University, August 25:

Good afternoon. Thank you for the great welcome we've had here. I would like to thank the previous speakers for their wonderful speeches and persuasive points. So I will actually be... I won't be technical or long. My speech will be easy because it is very easy to help children.

It is not difficult. You should have the strength to look into yourself and say, do I want to be part of the 10% of Filipinos who could go to university and do nothing about that; do I want to leave 90% of the population without an education? I'm sure you don't. Education seems to be luck here; it is not the way it should be. You, the Filipino country, the Filipino children are its future, the same way you are. Do you want to see the Filipino future go to waste? I'm sure you don't.

I'm just here to engage you to make a difference - a very small difference. I have been to many places here. Terrible places. Payatas - deadly mountain of waste. Most horrible place I have ever been to (I don't understand why you're laughing; it's very serious). Last night I was in Paco market. Suddenly 15-16 kids appeared out of nowhere. 5, 6, 7-year old orphans using drugs, not knowing how to read, never having had a roof to sleep under. I'm asking you, do you want this to continue? I'm sure you don't.

You are very, very, very lucky. You have a responsibility towards yourself, towards your family, towards God, and towards the Filipino. And I will not answer questions today because you shouldn't ask me questions. You should be asking yourselves questions. Do I want this situation to continue? And no step is too small, either.

As my mother always says, "If you have to turn off a volcano with a glass of water, you should do it." You think.... think of yourself as that little glass of water that makes a world of difference. Next time I come, I want to know, I want to see that people will go to the shantytowns. Lucky people like you who have education, who are top part of the nation. Even some of the cleverest people in the world have seen amazing things in the Philippines. I have seen development like no other developing country, either. But I have seen extreme poverty, too. And these differences cannot continue. So that's just simple words I want to share with you, and I hope you will make a difference. Thank you.

He looks so great in the last two pics. He looks clean-shaven
Maybe the AMADE site will have a transcript of the conference. I'd love to know what was discussed. Especially what Andrea had to say of course. He probably took questions from the audience.

im sorry if the comment came across tacky dear but you know what i mean.

I knew you didn't mean it as it sounded, but thank you for the apology. That is very nice. Thanks also for the karma. :flower:

i actually graduated from the top so-called elite school where Andrea gave his speech. i have to admit though the majority of the people there are apathetic and shallow. a lot of the people there were probably just there to see how gorgeous he was, honestly. sad but true. it's admirable how andrea actually stood up and told them the situation about the children is not a funny matter and should not be laughed at.

I was going to ask about this. I was surprised by karina's post calling the audience upper-class because my thoughts about them from the news and pics made me think they were just average student-types. But if this school is a "top elite" school, that explains why they are upper-class. Mommy and Daddy pay the tuition, so of course they have no sense of reality.
The only reason Andrea is different from them is because of AMADE, and his mother. Otherwise, he would be just another clueless rich kid. Also, the wealthy in the Philippines are so wacked-out wealthy, so out-of-proportion to the majority of the population, that it creates a kind of cocoon or shell that keeps them from having a true sense of the world around them. The elite shroud themselves in a safe little bubble world. I know it's the same in many other places, not just the Philippines. I hope no one feels I am singling out one country. The US has similar economic extremes, as America is quickly losing their middle-class.

I'm so happy that he made this trip! I want to see him continue to do charity work.

I think his speech was great, as someone who is of royalty and one of the wealthiest countries in the world it's very nice to see him do something positive and to make peple aware of the extreme poverty that other places suffer, like it's been said most of those girls that were there were probably just there to see him but I hope they got something out of his speech.

on another note, Tatiana needs to learn to smile or at least be more graceful if she ever acompanies him on another trip of this sort, her expressions in this pictures look so distasteful that it's just almost plain disrespectful to the people who are talking to them, she just looks like she does not want to be there, also as I said before I don't dislike her and don't mind seeing her with Andrea though I still think he could do better, but she needs to give him more space. they are always together, that would drive me crazy.

you're right CTstyle. it's good andrea has a clear grasp of reality. it's amazing how he got the courage going to the philippines knowing how dangerous it is there. he's really sincere and hands on unlike prince william or the others..who are just there for the pictorials and so so...
