a desperate attempt to relive his kaisik wong ripoff glory days

 talking which, let's see why I say he is doing Ghesquiere rather than Balenciaga (I like what he is doing actually):

and clearly it's the most colorful FW show in his history...

first glance- ghesquiere canNOT have possibly designed this collection
but the more i look at it.. its not as tasteless as i thought
as usual it grows on u and i'm hoping this one will in some strange way or another..

I love Ghesquiere’s sporadic use of bold colors for a FW collection...I think it gives woman a chance to branch away from darker melancholy tones as if they just came from a funeral and show some color, without resulting to wearing a S/S piece...even though there's heavy color, I'm sure these clothes are built for the harsh FW climate. I do love the emphasis on the shoulder..

i spoke too fast, i am just more happy than anything to be able to say ghesquiere did not disappoint me, as i was hoping he woudlnt.
the only thing i woudl prob change is the blue leggings which still look rather sickly with the tan sandals to me..

I think its a good, very strong collection, yet again. But i do feel and i always thought this;that Nicolas is not the right designer for a brand as iconic as Balenciaga!
And maybe for some poeple that dont know the history of Balenciaga and its customers this presented as Balenciaga is great, but for me;it just feels wrong.I see only Nicolas no Balenciaga here;and again that is not such an awful thing(he is very talented) but i still think some other designer with more acceptence of Balenciaga and its history would suit the brand and their customers better.

Not was I was expecting.. I dont absolutly love it, but there are some nice pieces.

have you ever thought that the old Balenciaga probably can't survive today? It's a couture house, not RTW. Don't expect a RTW to replicate the success or influence of a couture house. The society has completely changed. Balenciaga himself went bankruptcy twice and eventually the house was closed.

the old Balenciaga is not going to work today, and by doing RTW he is never going to make the so called true "Balenciaga". For a brand that was not much alive from the 70s to the 90s, is it really such a big deal to do the old Balenciaga? The customer base has changed, so should the brand.

It seems like he's doing something similiar to was done at Undercover last season.

The first thoughts that came to my head were ," Ok, he's referencing Chanel.... now Gaultier, now Kenzo, and now very obviously Hussein Chalayan." And the list goes on

oh wow.. how un-Balenciaga can you get?

Quite disappointing, was expecting so much more

Exactly.

One of the things I hate most about this collection is the hobo-chic/vintage aesthetic so evident in the clothing. Didn't we JUST finish with that whole vintage/hobo-chic trend? Is it already back?!

AGREED!! That's what I think a lot of people forget when they think of Balenciaga. I like the collection..my first thoughts were a futuristic Mongolian adventure. With Nicholas designing, it will take more time to sink in once it has been in your brain for some time..

Yes of course,i did!And you are right but the modernized version could.

I dont think that the customer has changed that much,(of course the times are different.etc)wich proved with A/W,06/07 collection. He dug out the archives and created the most tallked about and worn collection of last years. It shows people still want the hint of old Balenciaga.Surely the spirit and reputation of old Balenciaga is still admirable and sought after today?!

But then of course he said he will never ever look in archives again.
Like i said i dont see Balenciaga in his work not even the new, todays Balenciaga, whatever that is.I just dont like his whole idea of it and what he turned it into. But i do understand what you mean and maybe you are right ;and i am just nostalgic and silly, but i still think he should open his own brand, and someone else who is not afraid of being inspired by the legacy should take over.
