Givenchy HC F/W 07.08 Paris

Gorgeous, innovative handwork and jaw-dropping details, such incredible folds and textures he fashioned out of materials....but...there are some really dreadful "Thierry Mugler" moments...:( The designs and proportions seem very much "off" in this collection, and not in a good way. When it was done right, as in the grey feathered pant suit and several others, it is heart-stoppingly beautiful. Sad that there are a lot of misses this time, as opposed to his F/W collection which had more hits. And I hate those tight pants!

this is amazing... I don't like leaopard, myself... but I don't care when it's funny... the theme seems to be animal, savage and tribal... and it's good...
I would like to see the details and the back of some outfits...

These were my favorite looks:

Other than that I didn't really like the collection. I hated the gowns and the animal print.

^ That black top is very Sophia Kokosalaki. Feeling a little Chalayan in the jackets. Beautiful lighting and colors. Not crazy bout the excess of fur though. Couple of gorgeous pieces strewn throughout this collection.

looks like he inspired from animals for this collection..except the leopard prints one,i think collection is beautiful..

its a hit or miss collection to me it seems some pieces i love (like those gowns, i really love them) but the hats actually hat, the beige one, i cant really express in words how much i dislike it.

Despise the leopard-print, but other than that, everything is just fine. Those dresses sure look couture (amazing couture)yet some outfits really look more RTW than couture.

Mariacarlas dress was amazing, i cant get over it too Liberty!!! And I also love the white version, and these coats are amazing, the detailing and craftsmenship is unbelievable! I would love to see Cate Blanchett in this gown!!!:D

PARIS, July 3, 2007 – Riccardo Tisci has taken his time to show his Givenchy couture collection on a regular runway, rather than in presentations in which his vision—and his audience's ability to focus on it—was blurred by too much high concept. Today he found the confidence to strip away the extraneous theatrics and show what he can do in plain view. As it turns out—and as the many fans of his ready-to-wear already know—his strengths are modern tailoring and ingeniously draped spiral-cut dresses. For couture, he parlayed them into a futuristic take on the goddesses and amazons of Greek mythology.

It started with peplumed hunting jackets and feathered skirts, then switched to an exploration of the animal world that included crocodile jackets (the real thing, embellished with appliquéd scales in front, but left as uncut skins in back), oversized fur bombers, and a passage of top-of helmet to toe-of-shoe looks in dégradé animal print. The tight, overlaced pants and corseted tops had a fierceness vaguely reminiscent of late-eighties Mugler and Montana, or even the late Gianfranco Ferré. That earlier era is gaining fascination for designers of Tisci's age, although he has a softer side, too. That came out in his less assertive suitings and in the highly worked draperies of sparkle-embellished white gowns that ended the show. In all? If, like most young designers, Tisci is still working to define a unique personal signature for himself, he's making progress. With him at the helm, there's a growing sense that the house of Givenchy—which wavered for such a long time before he was hired—is back on a secure footing, and for that, he deserves credit.

I love this collection...It looks like really wearable couture and I love the detail on the looks. My hats off to him!:flower:

okay,if this is inspired by greek mythology then the kokosalaki comparisons are irrelevent as it's all about greek draping.

Ok, I love all the gowns and the black dresses that were worn with the fur, but other than that, many of it is ugly....and not in a good way.

I love it......Amazing details and beautiful dress...Mariacarlas dress is really amazing.....I really love to see HQ pics...Amazing collection.
Although It look a little bit wired, but I truly love this......
Bravo!~Tisci
