Carine Roitfeld leaves Vogue Paris *Update* Emmanuelle Alt named new Editor-in-Chief

Well, I still do hope she'll develop her work a bit now when she is EIC.

Disastrous!!...she's even more of one trick pony and very overtly obvious in her preference for certain designers than Carine ever was

I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm actually relieved that they chose her instead of Katie Grand. :ninja:

Now I'm curious which editors will she recruit...

They're giving Olivier Lalanne more control is that what I read? So they are giving the Editorship to Alt and allowing Oliver to have more of an influence... this sounds very much to me like a transition position. They are putting in Alt for a little while to transition to another editor slowly.

I`m pretty much not that surprised that it`s Alt. I`m also not that disappointed that it`s her. I just hope she continues the legacy of Carine, something that she worked hard for for almost a decade.

Now, we all have to move to the other thread. Let`s leave this thread to the great Carine, and icon. Her visions will be missed

They forgot to inform who will replace Alt as fashion director, or maybe they don't need to fill that position...

But I think it's the kind of title meant to last for a very short time, from months to a handful (2-3) years.. just to reduce the impact of Carine's departure, both in the business environment and also in the magazine.. I think the people at CN must be fully aware of Alt's clear inferiority as a EIC (in comparison to Carine and probably the other people at other editions of Vogue).
my thoughts exactly.

does this mean she'll no longer work for balmain/isabel marant/etc?

More than happy for her. Will not question her style and choice of models, it`s her decision now. I just hope she lives up to the legacy Carine worked hard to build for. Other than that, Congratulations

everyone's noticing the Emmanuelle Alt thing but is no one paying attention to the Olivier Lalanne part?

So why is there allegedly "bad ambiance" at the magazine because of this decision?

congrats to alt. i dont know y there a lot of people want changes to vogue paris. the magazine is doing extremely well so there is no point of changing the formula. many magazines asked for changes and lots of them ended up with disastrous results. well, vogue paris can't please all their fans so i think they should stick with their current direction bc it works wonderfully.

They forgot to inform who will replace Alt as fashion director, or maybe they don't need to fill that position...

If that's the case then it's just tragic - having no creative director AND fashion director

Emmanuelle Alt se consacrera dorénavant de façon totalement exclusive à ses nouvelles fonctions.
Emmanuelle Alt is now so totally devoted exclusively to his new position.

This should mean bye bye Balmain, Marant and Gucci for now...I wonder how it will turn out in reality.

hurray!:woot: I was so rooting for Emmanuelle and my prediction came true^_^ I'm sure she's going to be an amazing new EIC for Vogue Paris:smile:

i agree they need a creative director asap..
fashion director should be Anastasia B, but who knows if they decide to bring someone else, but they do need another stylist at the magazine
this means goodbye nakedness/p*rno theme editorials a la Carine

I wonder how it will turn out in reality.
I'm guessing it'll turn out as the statement sounds for the first issues, all new bosses tend to be a) still shocked from witnessing how the previous one got kicked out, b) desperate to make a good impression.
Give it 5 or 6 more issues and she'll go back to cloning herself for Balmain/Marant.

for some reason i feel like the person who is tapped as Fashion Editor will be a clue in the new direction with that and Olivier

I don't even remember Alt styling anything worth while. Anyway, i wouldn't be surprised if Carine ends up ghost editing the magazine as they happen to be BFF's....

OF ALL PEOPLE. HER? That's a ****ing nightmare. I really wanted this magazine to change. That's not going to happen.

I'm so upset. This was a chance to make a serious change to VP and now it'll just be a watered down version of its predecessor. She might bring some much needed revolutionary changes but I doubt it. Emmanuele is currently a one-dimensional stylist and will probably create a one-dimensional, soulless magazine.

When her first issue hits 'I told ya so' will be on the tip of my tongue... Hope I'm wrong!
