Carine Roitfeld leaves Vogue Paris *Update* Emmanuelle Alt named new Editor-in-Chief

He said Alt’s name would appear at the top of the masthead of the April issue, but not to expect any radical change at the title.

Very Happy. Alt is the perfect choice. Love it or hate it, she and Carine created an aesthetic. I'm glad her and Carine's vision of fashion will still have an outlet.

For Emmanuelle's inaugural issue, Daria Werbowy is on the cover wearing a Balmain jacket and Isabel Marant pants~

^don't be so sceptical,i'm actually pretty interested in Emanuelle's Vogue Paris!

I'm sooo disappointed. I was hoping the would choose someone really different who would bring "fresh air" to VP, but they choose Alt!

I'm disappointed. Oh well, we all had it coming.

Please Emmanuelle, think of some ideas that VP hasn't had in the past.

Even though I like Emmanuelle, I'm extremely disappointed.
I was hoping for a brand new Vogue Paris Team, or at least a significant change at the head. I don't think she'll give me satisfaction on that point. But I somehow trust her, I'll wait for her first issue before slashing her. I think or maybe just hope, that with more editorials under her helm she'll deliver some diversity.

Wondering who will be the Fashion Director ? Maybe Anastasia Barbieri...

Just ridiculous that she will eic now, the worst news possible for me, since thought she hsould be the first to GO after Roitfeld!

Hopwe she proves me wrong though, and turns the mag around, and if she does i wont have a problem admitting it!

I'm so disappointed :( ..... why fire/replace Carine and hiring someone that does basically the same ...I don´t get it...
like someone said, this was an opportunity to bring fresh air ... and now we have to settle for the same models (daria, kate ....) and designers (Balmain, marant ...) with a more conservative way ( i´ll miss the touch of nudity and eroticism of Carine in her work:cry:)

anyways, right now i'm more interested in knowing the future of Carine:smile:

Also, I'm wondering if Terry Richardson will still photograph for the publication.

Why Alt doesn't like him ? I know Carine always been a huge fan of him, but I think Emmanuelle appreciates him as well.
Talking about photographers, I hope she'll give some covers to Sorrenti or Slimane :woot:

Earlier this year Conde Nast's CEO Charles Townsend said he was "appalled" by what he had learned about Terry... I don't think US Vogue is hiring him anymore.

^of course ...
Richardson worked a lot with Alt. I even think he shot for 20 ans when Alt was at 20 ans ...

I'm not surprised at all. I mean really, who else were they going to pick? I actually think she'll be great even though I was a bit skeptical in the beginning. Even though she isn't innovative in her style, she will have no choice but to really diversify the magazine if she wants it to succeed, which means that she has to cover all bases and not just top everything off with a blazer. My biggest concern is how objective she can be. I mean, it's a completely new ball game for her and she can no longer just use Balmain and Isabel Marrant for everything. She'll have to really become more knowledgable not just about French labels, but also Italian and American labels as well. So it'll be a learning process for her. I also hope that she has a better reputation with more designers and doesn't have any bad blood with anyone (like Carine and Balenciaga). Anyways, I hope that she'll give Geraldine Saglio more creative freedom to shoot more interesting editorials instead of giving her the crappy, unimportant stories. Hopefully Daria will be her first cover model, but I've got a feeling it will be Kate.

This should mean bye bye Balmain, Marant and Gucci for now...I wonder how it will turn out in reality.

I think Balmain will still feature in VP, since Alt has a real friendship with Decarnin ...
But I'm wondering what will become of Balmain (and Marant and the other brands she might consult for) ......... Since, one of the reason why Carine was "officially" fired is her consulting for Givenchy etc. Since CN FR doesn't want their editors in chief to consult for brands ...

This whole thing smells really weird, if you want my opinion .....
Carine leaving and working on the french version of Vanity Fair (still a gossip) seems more realistic than her being fired ...
And Alt being nominated to be EIC seems to be the choice of Roitfeld like a contract btw 2 friends ....

And yeah, I wonder who will be Fashion Director .... Géraldine Saglio ? Mélanie ? or Joe McKenna (I ****ing wish) ? or some of the other new stylists that has worked for VP lately ...

I have to wonder if Emanuelle isn't a transitional editor though while they look for someone else in the meantime. I think she'll last 5, maybe 6 years at the most.
