most people didn't like Michael Kors for Céline - but you found that it is "a very Michael Kors for Celine type of collection, but updated to look more youthful". and you are right, imo.

people who like this collection also think that Pilati "was "boring" "nothing new", "seen it all before"".


and people didn't like Ivanka (obviously, as she got fired), but you nailed that she was more "innovative" .....

all this makes me confirm that people like Phoebe more than they like her work for Céline - as they obviously miss "the eye" for noticing things you + others nailed.
Phoebe needs her own brand. Everybody knows that !

Much as I loved Phoebe's work for Chloe, it always annoys me when people follow the designer, more than they do their work (not that I'm suggesting that that's what everyone's doing here).

Fashion should not be a popularity contest.

One should always judge the collection in an open-minded way, rather than according to how much one loves, or hates, the designer themselves.

Heh...BerlinRocks, if you really want to get Freudian, the SS10 YSL collection has a huge early Chloe vibe about it in the white poplin/cotton, flounces and other feminine touches, but it is hated by Chloe fans.....

BTW, Phoebe Philo did Banana prints and motifs in S/S '04 (I own some of them!), so I'm not sure what all the fuss is about over a few strawberries, either!

actually the whole fashion cycle thing has become shorter because of the internet , but this whole decade has been a mix and quite frankly i hate anything 80s because I lived through the horror of it.

I like the best the '80s had to offer, but then I wasn't an adult at the time.

It's a shame, as if things speed up too much, even the supposedly 'new' ends up looking boring, unless you're under 25, as it repeats too soon and also, no one has a chance to refine anything.

I think most of the people who complain about things (still) not moving fast enough probably aren't the R-T-W target customer, anyway (i.e. they're very young!).

Not responding to anyone in particular, but I don't see the connections between this and Pilati's recent collections in the slightest. A little minimal, yes. Mostly neutral, yes. But beyond that, the cuts are spectacularly different. And it isn't like I'm a huge Philo fan or anything. I know nearly nothing about the woman, and my knowledge of her past with Chloé is limited mostly to a few references every season in the collection's thread. And one more thing, I'm again unfamiliar with Celine, but if Michael Kors' work here was so similar to this, maybe it's just as much a matter of time as it is of taste. (But from what I've seen of his collections at the house, I think Philo's doing a better job already.)

Well im obviously not in the age of a celine customer, but this feels so NY that it bothers me

I love phoebe, I always have, but this verge on the risk of boring
too much cleaness, nothing exciting
where are the cool bags or shoes?

Ivana seemed to jump a lil more, and she really have some cool pieces going that could work for anyone
Im not too fond on these shapes, they are feminine, but on this super thin girls almost look boyish...

Well, there's some truth in that, I suppose - although, I got the feeling that it was supposed to look homespun and as though the owner of the skirt had just sewn them on, for fun?

This is not chloe its Celine , her customer are more working women , the same who shop at YSL , Prada , etc. There is nothing NYC about this lol, its Parisian minimialism. Im sure though in future she will make it more interesting because she has that knack of doing so.
