Most of this looks really horrible and dated I think, Im really struggling to understand it...
I quite like the long line though, and the Russian textiles.
The long men's coats look ridiculously feminine.

I may have to retract my statement from a couple days ago where I said I was looking forward to seeing Karl interpret Imperial Russia.

It's been interpreted much better by other designers.

of course it's been done better... but if you get too referential, then it becomes just pure costume. and there's museums and movies and opera for that.

what i think is smart about the collection is that as karl said, he didnt only take the imperial russia, or the folklore, or the constructivist aesthetic alone.... he used it all at once and tried to come up with something, if not modern, right for today (or the day they come out, as he said in 6-7 months )

What was the connection of Imperial Russia with Byzantine? I do know that when Russia was an imperium Byzantine was too and after that the Ottoman empire.

I am Byzantine/Ottoman so I LOVE this!!!!!

To be honest I wore something like this collection, a historic harum girls hat with a gold my mom knitted top and a flapper dress by Chloe last week to a party.
