The hair, makeup, and the 50's look that permeated the show was clearly influenced by Avedon's fashion portraits of the same decade. See also Irving Penn's images of his then wife Lisa Fonssagrives. You can see the inspiration.

^Do you know where any pictures of that are? I've had a photo of the toile of what I think is the blue dress towards the end of the show saved onto my computer for ages, and I think it's one of my favorite fashion images ever. Unfortunately, no source, so I don't think I can repost it?

i also only remember seeing it somewhere.... i think it was some documentary? the white muslin REALLY shows the construction and details so much better than the final show pieces. the makeup and embroidery was a nice touch, but ultimately hid the REAL details.
