Concealer

Erase Paste is wayyyy better than Boing! it really gives you a glowy skin!

Ooooh may have to give that a try, although i was really disappointed with Boi-oing, but i generally like benefit, thanks for the tip :)

DANA, i've heard mac concealers and foundations can cause lots of breakouts - have you had that experience with them? I love mac for 'colored' makeup, but am not really experienced with their 'skin' products

I've been using their powder and concealers for 3 years now. No breakouts!

i ve been using Mac concealer for years but i don t like it that much. i have very dark under eye circles and i don t think it covers much.
my dermatologist suggested clinique or shiseido

anyway, anybody knows a good concealer for dark circles?? thank u

I think YSL's Touche Eclat cause its light and won't cake.
You could mix some Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage with a bit of moisturiser either.

Touche Eclat is not a concealer, it is a highlighter.

I can vouch for Benefit Erase Paste too, I use it and love it ^_^

amazinggrace: I use Aveda's concealer and it works quite well for me (not too thick, right amount of coverage, doesn't look at all like I'm wearing concealer) and I've never broken out from it.

I have a friend who swears by any of Clinique's concealers though the color choice seems pretty limited...and another loves the Benefit Erase Paste, too.

I've heard some negative things about Mac, too, though I guess it just depends on your skin?

Lancome Effacernes (tube) has great coverage!

However when I run out of it, I'm gonna try Armani, have heard good things about it.

^Yay! You'll LOVE it. I am sticking to Armani concealers (and probably foundations too) for life!

Bobbi Brown. I have massive dark circles, and Bobbi Brown is the only thing that will cover it without looking obvious, cakey or really really white in pictures with flash. The most important thing is using the corrector before the concealer - the corrector neutralizes the blue and purple in your dark circles, and the concealer (ALWAYS yellow-based) covers the darkness. The corrector does not cover anything, it only gets rid of that blueish colour. And both the concealer and the corrector are SO blendable. They never ever cake, they are so easy to layer. You'd think that doing your makeup would take longer with two products instead of one...but it is SO fast. It's so fast that I can sleep longer in the mornings because I can do my face in 10 minutes.

thanks guys, think i'm definitely going to give some Erase Paste a try!! They've got some great deals on Ebay so i think i'm going to order one this afternoon and just take a gamble with the color...will let you know how I fare.. :)

^You might as well gamble...even if you go to a counter and try it on, the lighting is so artificial and bad that you probably won't get the right colour anyway

hahaha how right you are...the amount of times i've paid £20+ for something that I never even end up using owing to the fact that it looks SO different at home just makes me sick to think about

I've taken to asking for foundation samples before purchasing so that i can try things out at home but my most recent sample (the Laura Mercier shimmery tinted moisturiser, can't remember what it's called off the top of my head) was about a thousand shades too pale because the sales girl didn't believe that i'm much paler when it's my 'time of the month' and gave me the fairest sample instead of the sample that i ACTUALLY asked for  (rant over :innocent:)

are correctors just another word for concealers ?
No. BTW a corrector is peachy-pink/salmon while concealers should be yellow-based.

^ Thank you very much! I knew I was doing something wrong. So I should apply foundation, then the corrector then concealer?

Ok guys so i took your advice - went into the MAC counter a couple days ago in the morning and asked them to apply some Studio Sculpt concealer so i could see how it wore over the day...the coverage was OK but it REALLY seemed to highlight the dryness of my skin, especially on my blemishes, it just caked and crusted really bad and made me look like i have fine lines under my eyes (I'm 23 for goodness sake!!):(. She tried some Moisture Cover on some of my blemishes as well as under my eyes but the coverage was so-so and much worse than my previous concealer (elizabeth arden's flawless finish maximum coverage concealer). As the day wore on, the Studio Sculpt seemed to get flakier and flakier :(. So, from experience, i wouldn't really recommend the MAC concealers for dry skin!

BUT my Benefit Erase Paste arrived yesterday and i LOVE it!! I ordered it in Fair and it's a tiny bit too pale for me, but it's just the right texture and doesn't 'settle' into any of the dry patches on my face and gives the perfect amount of coverage - thanks for all your recommendations girlies, this is definitely staying in my makeup bag for a while :D
