i'm still not clear on the difference...

I only bought one actually - changed one for the other. They didn't have any of those jackets left at the store when I was there on the first day of the sale....

Guess you're right re Junya (but really it's comme in general). I think I like a bit of lightness in clothes, a bit of knowing humour. I find carpe diem devoid of any frivolity. I find it aggressively ultra-serious, too precious, and that doesn't appeal to me.

although i don't understand the pricing, those "cordovan" are so much more expensive than the boots?

the cost of cordovan leather by Horween Leather Company is costly.
and certainly excellent
but sometimes normal horsehide could be more expensive than cordvan when it gets some special treatment etc.
there are varieties in leather.
stingray, even eel, etc.
Lang used to do salmon shoes which looked like distressed snakeskin.
each has its own virtue.
it's about your taste in the end.

no, it's cordovan that HLC supplies.
most of Cdiem leather is from Guidi & Rosellini.
Cdiem is not a tanner.

it's not a new line
but a new label independent of Cdiem.
they seem to add jackets to the capsule collection for next spring.
