Designer & Fashion Insiders Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

It seems like Epstein really got around, I wonder how many famous or high profile people came in contact with him during his life. It's bizarre.

For real! I didn’t find as much on him as I did on Tom ford, but Hamish Bowles is in the mix too

I got bored and was googling about the ghislaine Maxwell case and why did I just find out Tom Ford has so many connections with Jeffrey Epstein I'm ded
yeah I think he was in Epstein's phone list or something, it came out a couple of years ago.

Honestly, this case bores me to tears, I don't follow it, but the dumb headlines certainly follow me "friend, lover, fixer? Ghislaine Maxwell prosecutors home in on nature of Epstein relationship".. :meow:.. he had a foot fetish and she had a fetish about his foot fetish, boohoo. And they were both extremely unattractive..

Also he was killed so what’s even the point of crucifying his pet..

Rich people hanging out with other rich people.
News at 11.
Exactly. Rich people hanging out with rich people shouldn’t be a surprise to everybody. There’s always something to gain on both sides…Even something as elusive as a social status boost.

And there’s something very interesting about Epstein and that is reccuring pattern for a lot of people in those very rich circles…Nobody knows exactly what they are doing. They are known to be known and rich in a socialite way and they are evolving in those circles in a very sneaky way.

But I must say that I’ve always found very surprising how circles of power are always so large in the US compared to France for example. He was the definition of a social climber who played cleverly with his (and his partner) and a lot of men twisted and disgusting fantasies.

It’s both horrifying and frightening but what I think is the most concerning is that I’m sure this still exist today….With even more twisted ways and NDA’s and stuff.

I can't stand the constant speculation about every person who came in contact with Epstein being complicit in his trafficking. He was somewhat of a fixture in society for decades, and when you're known (at least on the surface) as a billionaire philanthropist who knows everyone, of course celebrities, politicians, journalists, etc. will be in your rolodex. Not everyone who knows my phone numbers knows the intimate details of my personal life and vice versa, so why should I assume Hamish Bowles, Carole Radziwill, Tory Burch, Chelsea Handler, etc. knew of his activities? Repeated connections over years and documented flights to Epstein's island are certainly more damning, suspicion directed at those people seems more warranted, but the guilty-by-association attitude people take towards seemingly everyone who ever laid eyes on Epstein (or Weinstein) is so ridiculous to me.

I have no idea what connections Tom Ford does or does not have with Epstein, but you know how sometimes without hard evidence you just get very bad feelings about someone? I know it's not fair, and it's probably a little weird, but it's just intuition or "bad vibes". I feel that way, strongly, about Tom Ford. Other designers who give me that feeling: Alessandro Michele, Diane von Furstenberg, and Rick Owens (obv)

I think people like Carole Radziwill (going on dates with prince Andrew BARF) and Hamish Bowles 100% knew of their activities, like with the circles they run in... it's not like they don't have eyes and ears

In regard to Tom Ford I was just kinda shocked he was hanging out at Epstein's house, having Ghislaine fly him in their helicopter, and having a place 20 min from Epstein in the middle of the bumf*ck nowhere desert in New Mexico

I am more disappointed with finding more and more examples of how there are no "good" rich people. And I'm not really talking about like upper-middle class doctors and whatever. They don't attain wealth doing good or even being commensal. Whether they turn a blind eye for their gain or are directly involved, it's gross. Billionaires are not strangers to each other. I'm just becoming completely revolted by these people, regardless if they're tied to Epstein and friends or not. I used to enjoy watching the lifestyle p*rn with the fashion icons and haute couture clients, but accepting it's all built on stepping on the backs of others makes it not as entertaining to me. Like when Ivy Getty just had her wedding with Galliano making her dresses, I was just like ... not even interested anymore

And in regard to bad vibes, yeah I agree lol. TF, Michele, and especially DVF and Rick Owens. Something in the buttermilk ain't clean

Up until a couple of years ago, I had no idea about the accusations against Prince Andrew. If he'd asked me on a date I sure as hell would have gone. But in some way I think people like that, who have a good reputation, are used by more nefarious people in their circles as cover. If you're involved in trafficking and have a thing for young women or even underage girls, going out casually with a respected and connected 50-something woman is good cover. Was she complicit or was she being used? Who's to say? And clearly Carole has a thing for princes....

Even if someone is aware that, say, Epstein seems to have a rotation of young women at his beck and call and you see that, it's a reasonable assumption to think it's a sugar daddy situation or just a social climber. A wealthy, powerful, charismatic, and (relatively speaking) not hideous man will have no issue finding plenty of people willing to have consensual.... relations with him. I don't think it's a normal reaction to make the leap to thinking "oh, that woman is being trafficked, her passport's been taken away, she's been threatened with death for herself and her family if she doesn't comply"

Story in today's NYT here about LVMH employees asking for higher wages - Many of them earn only minimum wage:

At Sephora, the luxury cosmetics chain owned by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, some unions are seeking an approximately 10 percent pay increase of €180 a month to make up for what they say is stagnant or low pay for employees in France, many of whom earn minimum wage or a couple hundred euros a month more.
LVMH, which recorded revenue of €44.2 billion in the first nine months of 2021, up 11 percent from 2019, raised wages at Sephora by 0.5 percent this year and granted occasional work bonuses, said Jenny Urbina, a representative of the Confédération Générale du Travail, the union negotiating with the company.

Sephora has offered a €30 monthly increase for minimum wage workers, and was not replacing many people who quit, straining the remaining employees, she said.

“When we work for a wealthy group like LVMH no one should be earning so little,” said Ms. Urbina, who said she was hired at the minimum wage 18 years ago and now earns €1,879 a month before taxes. “Employees can’t live off of one-time bonuses,” she added. “We want a salary increase to make up for low pay.”

Sephora said in a statement that workers demanding higher wages were in a minority, and that “the question of the purchasing power of our employees has always been at the heart” of the company’s concerns.

DVF is classic woman from old world which find rich husband with good surname. IMO, she likes party, money, vanity life and don't care where the money is coming from. A lot of designers when they became rich lived beyond their means, then there were a problem when you're no longer on a roll.

re LVMH employees: €1,879 a month before taxes for a full-time (I assume) employee who's been with the company for 18 years is pretty shocking.

Yeah, it's really a bore and pointless to crucify his pet Ghislaine Maxwell who allegedly helped him traffic underage girls

He's offed himself, so let's just close the door on all of this...

Seriously?

Hedi banned Vogue after they sacked Emmanuelle??? is there any truth to this. Also how do you ban someone from covering a virtual presentation

"French luxury brand Celine and Vogue appear not be the best of fashion friends after Emmanuelle Alt left Vogue France, formerly known as Vogue Paris.

The brand’s artistic, creative and image director Hedi Slimane is understood to be so upset by Alt’s departure that Vogue Runway was not invited to cover Celine’s spring 2022 virtual show.

“It was not our decision to not cover spring 2022, but we look forward to covering the brand’s next show,” a Vogue source said."

What’s Going On With Celine and Vogue?

Also how do you ban someone from covering a virtual presentation

Actually, this ban might get even more intense. I've heard that Conde Nast would be banned from getting any samples and advertisement from Celine and they would not be able to mention Hedi's name or Celine at all. Not to mention being banned from attending the physical shows.

Bravo! Respect to him for sticking to his principles. I remember he rallied against the whole cancel culture during the time of his first collection. This new Vogue France is so woke and dominated by a certain side of the political spectrum, I can’t imagine someone like Slimane bowing down to that.

Anyway Celine does not need this new Vogue France. Indeed if anything, it needs to get away from it and fast!

I'm sorry, but if this is actually true and his reasoning for pulling out of Vogue is because of Emmanuelle's departure, that's pathetic. Sure, she is a great stylist, but she was pretty sh*t at creating a dynamic magazine that was able to survive amidst all of the changes.

The way the article read, he isn't only pulling out of Vogue France, rather Vogue altogether. I love what he does, but if this is true, it's super childish and petty, and silly from a marketing perspective.

I'm sure there is no way Hedi will ban Anna from his show since she has been his supporter for years.

Banned from getting samples, shows or advertisements are nothing new for Vogue. It's Balenciaga vs VP all over again.

A few seasons later, a year or two, or when they have a new designer there, then it's will be back to business anyway.

In the mean time maybe the Vogue team can have a live stream party with Cathy Horyn and watch the show together .

What happened between Balenciaga and Vogue Paris? Please indulge me!

Balenciaga blacklists Vogue Paris?

It's a very long thread and 10 years later it's still only ~anonymous sources, but long story short, back in 2010, Balenciaga blacklisted the whole VP team from their fashion shows, stopped lending them samples for photoshoots, ceased advertising immediately.

Rumour had it a few Balenciaga runway samples magically turned up at Max Mara's Milan studio to be dissected, studied etc. Those samples were originally on loan to VP for photoshoots and coincidentally Carine was consulting for Max Mara even all the way back then. Just for context, when NG was there, Balenciaga was fiercely protective of their runway samples and very selective on which magazines got the honour  of getting them for photoshoots (slightly OT but just like now with LV, at some point NG enforced a full look policy with Balenciaga as well...just saying).

Again, take this with a huge grain of salt, tFS was a completely different place back then, 16 pages of speculation, conspiracies and petty fun just going by a couple of trashy gossip blogs.
