she is such an interesting but tragic (here we go again ) figure.

I didn't even notice that you had written that...and then I posted photos of Anne Sexton. Weird.

Is it weird to say Oscar Wilde is a style icon? I like to think he'd be happy to be considered one. This is my all-time favorite photo of him:

hboogie, oscar wilde is definitely a style icon! and he sure would have loved to be remembered as such. i just recently read a funny story by malcolm mclaren...he wanted to make a musical about oscar wilde discovering rock'n'roll (at the beginning of his career) hollywood paid him for research etc. and then suddenly lost interest. i would have loved to see that.

i also have always loved anne sexton's appearance...

anna karina - i really like that first pic of loy and annemarie schwarzenbach remindes me a little bit of stella tenant...her eyes are lovely.

HBoogie - thanks for the pics of wilde...:flower:

I love so many - well, all - of these contributions. I like Anne Sexton, too - there's a great description of her, out there: "Earrings and bracelets, French perfume, high heels, matching lip and fingernail gloss bedecked her, all intimidating sophistications in the chalk-and-wet-overshoes atmosphere of the Boston Center for Adult Education..."

I've always loved the Marchesa Luisa Casati...

I'm itching to mention the immensely talented, yet immensely obscure, Diamanda Galás. Myself, I am convinced she's Maria Callas, reincarnate and set to the soundtrack of time spent in oblivion. :P

Well she looks very Velvet Underground sometimes, with no explanation

I'd forgotten a favorite, Lee Miller... she was a model and later, an amazing photographer and muse to Man Ray...
