Dior Homme Mens F/W 08.09 Paris

I dont like the skinny pants on the men, I think they are too built for it so they look silly but I do like some of the jackets...

Exactly Lemeray. Those skinny jeans really only look right on the pre-Kris Dior Homme model. Bring back the 120 pound/6 foot models. They are the only ones who can pull off such clothing.

i think the moody monestaray effect is quite sexy. blixa bargeld sexy. to me this is a sexier dior homme rather than that overrated little boy in the band stick thin image.
My thinking exactly. I like that this has actual men in mind.

For me the strength is all above the waist. I don't like any of the pants, though the full cut trousers with the gathering might have worked if they weren't caught in at the ankle and were kept straight through the leg. Detest the skinny pants, and I probably always will regardless of who designed them.

Some of the jackets are really beautiful, I love that very first one with the shattered glass embroidery. Overall the presentation sets an entirely different mood, which is what excites me most. Maybe, just maybe Dior Homme can break free from the overdone and silly rock boy junkie hipster thing.

Sidenote, the set is extremely reminiscent of Tom Ford's "black box" at the Musee Rodin back when he started there, I loved it then and I love it now.

yes we should call it Monsieur Dior instead of DiorKids.....

and yes it was more than a collection of clothes, with Hedi.....
it was good first collections.... and then a all collection of people coming back from Pop'In, Paris......
he all took his silhouettes overthere, drinking Perrier.....

the first collections of Hedi were excellent (@ YSL and Dior)....
the all skinny jeans rock boys is a big joke......

Call it whatever you want to, I still don't care about the collection. It's not progressive, it's not new, it's not exciting. It's not what fashion means to me...

I'm not going to sit here going back and forth arguing over whether Hedi's Dior Homme was amazing or not. I think it was and that's all that matters to me. This is an immitation, I don't hate it but I don't think it works...

this may look very close to dior homme we have in mind. but i am sure if we compare the cuts, the silhouettes, the fabrics, the general mood. this has nothing to do with it. i think it's closer to versace than it is to hedi :ninja::ninja::ninja:

Versace??? Hell nO!!! This is nothing like Versace. Dior Homme has been more and more disappointing by the season recently. Bring HEDI!!!

Um sorry, but because some men aren't big and muscular, they arent actual men? I, as well as plenty of men I know are all fit, lean and THIN, and as far as I am concerned we are men. What makes one an "actual man"? So much bias.

What kind of BS?

Actually my comment was in regards to the fact that for a change grown men seem to be the focus and the ideal here rather than the old Dior pre-pubescent boy look. These clothes look like they're designed with a more sophisticated client in mind, not a 19 year old wannabe rockstar. I said nothing about body type, so I don't know where you pulled that from.

None of these guys look particularly big or muscular, but they look like more mature than any of Hedi's boys ever did.

Ok, you miss Hedi, but WTF? amateurish? Grow up...

I did like like most of the jackets. The butterfly blazers are very cool. Some looks did not appeal though, but I really loved others. This is more Tailored, I did not see any logo tees yet. And that's good! And do you know why? Dior Homme is supposed to be on the top of fashion, that's the vision of the owners.. Not that it should be an underground label for some cool rock kids that happens to spend 300 dollars on a T shirt just to show off. Face it, with logo or not, it's all about showing off anyways. This is a much better way to show off IMO!

wasn't too happy myself about the late slimane dh with logo tees, indie rock cliches etc, i pretty much stopped buying / wearing it then, though i still treasure my old pieces. the original dior homme & hedi's ysl before that were all about beautifully sophisticated tailoring with an idea of modern masculinity. and yes, this does look amateurish to me, both the tailoring and styling...maybe hedi was hunting down the skinny boys at pop in & truskel, but it seems that kva went to madame tussaud's instead.

Hate the MC Hammer trousers (again), love the upper parts! Salvatore will need the jacket in post N°12, photo N°6! That's lovely! Actually I want that entire look! ^_^

Who is fan of Hedi should be happy cauz there is a Hedi line cauz he is beginning a conversaton wit Arnault so we will see.
The jeans sux but the jackets r nice tho:-P

waist upwards i'm really liking it. the first jacket posted with the shot glass applique is very kewl.

i was hoping for a serious revamping of the Dior Homme brand, i was so excited when the original schedule just said "Dior" instead of "Dior Homme".

add some color, loosen up, shake off the dust from the past few years, have the Dior man grow up in dignity but rooted in urban culture. that's what Hedi was about, but his Dior man stopped somewhere in his growing up process, stuck between 13-16, trying to rebel. the hipster kid, rock star wannabe. there's more ways to rebel.

but how do they say? baby steps.

i feel as though the skinnys are far too skinny and the hammer pants are simply rediculous

Why are there so many disappointed because our expectations too high for Dior Homme. We want to achieve the level of KVA to Hedi but is clearly impossible, and I think he's a lot more pressure, he needs time.

i don't understand why people dismiss slimane's entire body of work and categorize him as niche when his rock influence, while evident in various degrees spanning a dozen collections at dior, was not even distinct except during 2 or 3 seasons. slimane's muse, the authentic "rock boy junkie hipster thing", wore pretty much everything from the label and looked so fantastic that if you coverered his face and you wouldn't even know there was something wrong with him.

So because say, a 20 year old isnt wearing a suit, more conservative clothing, he is not a sophisticated, "actual man"? There are some men who are more comfortable in these "wanna be rockstar" skinny jeans and tops of the pre-Kris era. What does this have to do with their level of sophistication?

And the men in this show are muscular, way too muscular for such skinny jeans.

Very few could actually pull off those pants. I think skinnier models should have been used.

Who was his muse?
What was wrong with him? :(
