Discussion: Who Should Be The Creative Director of Gucci?

I just watched the YSL show and the soundtrack was VERY swan song. It sounds like he is leaving ! I don't know what's going on.
SAME.
ran here to say the same thing
this is becoming an increasingly interesting development in the musical chairs game
I personally feel that its either him or Dario at this point... do we really think kering will cash out on Hedi after the scandal theyve had? :(

I did not have Vaccarello moving on my fashion musical chairs board !! God, maybe Vaccarello is going to Gucci and Vitale to Saint Laurent ? 😭

How come for much bigger brands we knew the new designer appointment months prior to official announcement while for Gucci it's Gonna Be a secret until last minute?
For Chanel we knew it would have been Matthieu in November and the announcement statement was released in mid December, for Dior we know it's Gonna be JWA since beginning of the year and we still have to see two more shows from Maria Grazia...

I think that, paradoxically, Kering benefits from communication chaos. We weren’t expecting SdS being sacked three weeks before his own show (he wasn’t either) and, with all other gossip during fashion month, they managed to sign a new designer and elegantly drop a bomb day after PFW. LVMH is well oiled machine therefore even gossips are slower but much more reliable whereas Kering is just everything everywhere all at once. On top of that about new CD know maybe handful of people right now. If you want gossip to spread you can control it yourself after all… ;)

Who goes to YSL if Vaccarello goes to Gucci?
miu miu guy? or some one lol

I think as gucci is priority: as they want to revive the golden Tom Gucci years Vaccarello is trusted and manageable person to redo the TF gucci archives.
also Bellettini said at last Kering meeting : From the new creative director we can expect "a great ability to make people dream, to transmit passion, to demonstrate talent and make the brand desirable, based on an extremely solid foundation that we have built in the last 18 months".

for me this sentences is Vaccarello that did his copy of home work well at YSL post Hedi, and she is still in Hedi mind set of rebranding , something dark sleek sexy and chic.

i feel they go for safe and well tested because a star designer is too costly and not what she wants again post Alessandro another diva in the house the brand needs to be first and corporate rules.

also if news is tomorrow after ysl show or two days after they wanted to wait to give the ysl show its moment ?

i don't know just my feeling

Yes, probably Thursday then. I forgot that the Saint Laurent show is today; in fact, I often forget about Saint Laurent altogether.

Vaccarello at Gucci would be a somewhat bold move by Kering, moving the CD from the only 'stable' house they have at the moment (not counting BV since we'll just have to wait and see what turn it takes with Louise Trotter). And it would mean a third CD debut collection for Kering this year.
Vaccarrello is very much a manageable CD for Kering it seems but can he bring enough excitement?
On the other hand, what else can he offer Saint Laurent after nearly 9 years? Except another Emilia Perez moment.

SDS was also expected to be sacked or stay longer in jan/Feb as the new Ceo took its position in jan so its not a total surprise.
(i also mentioned last year it prior to his firing that beginning of this year will be important for the ceo if he is making hard decisions or soft moves)

Even SDS was saying weeks if i get fired and joking etc

It was going to happen the sales are really bad after so many shows and press and hype is also to low.

Objectively it was a important month close to publication of numbers, and you have also the board putting pressure on new ceo´s and management of kering for change to happen faster.

Even Ferragamo guy/CD during the last show prep days etc most of top team members where known to searching already for other jobs with headhunters ( people talk when suddenly more people from one studio is reaching out to agents etc ) etc because there is noise of dropping the CD after last Ferragamo show , few days later after the show they say they stand by him etc out of the blue !!!!!

(something must have happen or its just ticking time bomb as with SDS was a moment they said also they are sticking with him as they are on track bla bla to make the foundations for the new gucci a year later ancora gone!!!!!! )

there is always breadcrumbs left with these companies statements as they are not waterproof with their message often.

i don't like Vaccarello´s work but i do see what they see in him, i prefer Hedis original blueprint, but vaccarello did the maxim with his narrow talent to milk all he could copy and make it sexy and visually clear what ysl is for this long

Bellettini moved also according to her the ysl bag designer genius to Gucci few months ago......... We have yet to see the bag wonders work !!!!!!.....vaccarello is no different minion to her in this case.

Dario Vitale is confirmed at Versace, they even already hired is boyfriend 🤣 so no Gucci for him

So how come he was working on NYC show in May ? He had fittings and casting two days before he got sacked. I get your point but not sure if they choked on their own breadcrumbs, panicked and kicked him off. What difference would it make to fire him 2 h after the show like Burberry did with Tisci ?

I have a sneaky feeling that its him as well also because of his close ties with Bellettini, presumably because of the evident relationship of ysl and bellettini in first place.would make sense

until you don't get the phone call to not come in tomorrow you work of course, you are given prenotion that someone will be fired, even if you planned it already or still thinking about it as Ceo or manager..... its common practice , i seen it many times :-)

the general idea for the studio was this upcoming show or maybe by cruise ...i can assure you management side knew weeks at least that his days where short it was not a last minute decisions he was going to be fired at some point all i can say.

the difference here is Cantino!!! he is a new ceo its his first big job as ceo and gucci as you know is the biggest brand of the group.

he started his job officially in jan 2025 so as a new Ceo you need to set the tone and make your mark.

Cantinio is known to be ruthless and is not afraid to be a doberman or a fox he wil eleiminat and block things with out sentiment.

he is also not loyal to SDS he did not choose him its not his problem.
