Dolce & Gabbana F/W 06.07 Milan

to me it is another collection that takes STEFANO PILATO last winter debut as its departure point, however it is nice, luxurious & new theme at D&G.

love the shoes, i sooo can't wait to see them in stores, certainly on my list for next fall!!

I can definitely see some of the Balenciaga nautical theme from S/S 06 but it would call this Dolce e Gabbana collection a rip off of Balenciaga. As someone mentioned before I think DG took a theme, used it directly, and ran with it; while Gheguiere takes a theme and uses it as an influence or reference but not as an exact replica.

Nevertheless, I like a lot from this DG collection. It just looks good to me particularly the coats and trousers...and these boots are KILLER!

Love the empire dresses though a few of them are a bit much. Would've been better if they'd shown more restraint. I agree with Susie's observations.

I think it looks more YSL than Balenciaga.

YSL last fall spirt is still spreading everywhere, I wonder what is Stefano hiding for the next fall?? by the way where is Lena:blink: ? missing her wisdom point of view & judgment for what is showing now?

this collection is arguably the worst this season, it reminds me of an average retail store in the way they've put this together:

- a bit late on the military baroque trend don't you think? this opulence isn't for right now...just like a lower-priced retail store they are behind the times...

- a hodge podge of influences from balenciaga to...balenciaga:lol: it's not that they're rip-offs, but it's like a watered down version of a look...it's absolutely miserable that in order for the mainstream to understand a trend it has to be done by dolce & gabbana..

I agree with you about the Balenciaga influence ... but this is significantly different and pretty well done. What I really like about it is that it's *not* dark and boring! A lot of the proportions are really nice, and there's a lot of sexy buttoned pieces--but not in the often super-obvious D&G way. For them, I like it a lot. OTOH, some of it is really theatrical and costumey.

I think this is probably gonna make a splash, despite being late on the military thing (which after all was just a rehash of a trend we've seen before ;)). I'm just thrilled to see a bit of color and life ...

umm, balenciaga's last collection was the most expensive they've ever produced...
Price doesn't matter. I just find this to be more luxurious than Balenciaga although I KNOW Balenciaga uses better materials, maybe it's the warm color pallette versus Balenciaga's white, black and blue.

maybe, although i'd pick felted wool as a material of choice for a jacket, not ostritch..but to each his own

anyways, maybe i should have said 'richer'? even the way balenciaga used lesage embroidery was more sophisticated.

I love itI love It......
I love the jackets...I wanna have them!~~!!
I think this is one of the best show so far..

i dont understand why everyone keeps calling it balenciaga influenced when balenciaga would *never* have so much *stuff* all over their clothes. although it is toned down, it still looks "dolce & gabbana" to me...

I watched the video and loved this collection, particularly at the end how the models held their dresses. Very beautiful. :flower:

When I try and watch the video, I can only see like the first 15 seconds, then it stops...is this happening with anyone else?

Im watching it on style.com and at the start of the show, it looks like Snejana jumps out of her skin

Almost all of the dresses are ridiculous IMO. If it makes Gemma ward look heavy...you know its not good.
