Dolce & Gabbana F/W 11.12 Milan

I'm absolutely salivating over all of this! First of all, the teddy boy/sequined/fur looks were the best thing here. It was completely different from their usual Sicilian crap. Second of all, I loved how they used the star motif within the collection. I just can't stop but thinking about this one green sequined dress & this one sequined pants look. Although the Sicilian crap isn't fully gone, it's great to know that it's diminishing as seasons go on & on.

Ps. If someone could post the full collection in HQs, I'll love ya forever!:lol::p

I watched the video for 30s and moved on.
If they feel the need to redo stuff from the past, they need to look to their seasons around 2002 - 2005.

last season was far better! it was so sexy so d&g. lace overload but still sexy and clean. this is such a f'n disaster.

Wow this was so incredibly painful to watch, and for reasons owing to not only the collection, but also the staging of the show (the throng of models all walking out together is so kitschy and cringe-worthy), the music and generally the entire vibe.

What happened to them?! They used to have such powerful shows with such strong, sexy and confident women. Sure, perhaps their aesthetic was at times a bit "euro-trash" but it was intrinsically them and it was above all exciting to watch! Their last few shows have been so incredibly mundane.

Besides the obvious flaws, this collection was, to be frank, embarrassing. The 'menswear' inspired looks were not only badly tailored, but inherently redundant and by the third look of this, I began to ignore them. The dresses and blouses decorated with stars were a poor attempt to reinvigorate their brand with such much needed glamour.

I cannot believe this collection is made by the same designers who put forward something as genius as Fall 2007 or Spring 2009! Now those were some memorable shows, no? Those shows (and further back) had all the elements necessary for a good Dolce&Gabbana show; sex, glamour and power. If this collection is anything to go by, it seems they have lost their way and I sincerely hope they try to go back to their DNA very soon. I don't know what they are trying to prove with these recent collections, but I for one, really do miss their shows from the early 00's up until Spring 2009. Am I the only one? Do these recent Dolce&Gabbana shows resonate with people the same way their earlier shows did?

Come to think of it, I'm confuse about the image that I posted on the first page which I pulled from the Milan FW thread. Those dresses were not on the runway and I checked the source noted by the original poster, Marie Claire UK's twitter, and the info and images are correct.

Honestly, this is the first show in a while that I didn't want to end. The styling, the music, the casting was all perfection. I loved the concept, and I loved the clothes. When I saw pictures at first I thought it was going to be tacky, but I absolutely adore it all!

this is typical dolce & gabbana... they often have an off-season... producing clothes of poor design and quality... but this must be an all time low for them!

The best thing I can say is they seem to have a very smooth, professional operation.

I liked last fall so much better. I don't know that I saw the show, but what I saw editorially and at retail was so much better than this (and yes, I like animal prints--theirs were the best in a season chock-full of them).

i LOVED this, the mens rockabilly vibe i just adored. this is def in my at least top three for fw so far.
but i can see how this isn't for everyone, i'm just crazy for this tho :buzz:

When will this phase end? This "look" is really getting redundant. I feel like the past 4 collections just blend together into one giant cluster**** The first time was beautiful, the second a continuation, the third nonsense, the fourth "lack of imagination and effort". It's the same shapes and silhouettes and even the same pieces being repeated over and over again. I agree that a good amount of it is beautiful and yes I realize it may have a few alterations and new materials but it's basically the same thing on repeat. Where is the Genius that used to be Dolce&Gabbana, the iconic glamorous house full of vision and imagination?

awww... some really nice, standout, hip-trendy pieces here but some looks were complete disaters as well. i thought it was the end of the tight/lacy/sicilian girl sexy era but noooo.... although the oversized suits were so fun to watch but they looked so ill fitting (which was probably the point) but i just can't seem to like it.

I enjoyed this.

Fun, strong, brave and irreverent.

Stands out in an era where you tend to feel that many designers are so scared of unsettling the horses, that they have become scared of their own shadows...

Dolce and Gabbana have been gradually losing their relevance and credibility since about 2007 but this was a humdinging clanger of a fancy dress joke. They have totally lost it.

It so sad to see all these designers taking the teddyboy menswear reference that Ghesquiere incorporated so fantastically last season and making women look like clowns with overliteral, lazy, costumey versions. Where is the 'design'.

And the retro referencing was not only too literal it was randomly all over the place.

I mean pork pie hats and zootsuits might be bad enough but with leopard, glitter and stars! An undergraduate fashion design student would be laughed off campus if they showed something this uncool. Some of the pieces would look tacky if you had the misfortune to bump ino them at Claires Accessories.

There's a really naff film or probably stage musical that this is making me think of although I can't yet quite grasp what it is. And I really don't want to think about it a moment longer.

Kudos to all that gave this the unreserved panning it deserves. How the mighty are fallen.
