Dressing For Cold Weather & Winter...

I find the good thing with a slouchy beanie is that there is enough space at the back for you to have your hair tied back. I quite often will tie my hair up,and a hat won't sit right on,or it'll mess up my hair.

I'm trying to incorporate an old mans flat cap into my warbrobe,not sure what to wear it with yet,but it seems to be keeping my head quite warm.

We already had an ice storm in Montreal (last week I think?) so if anyone is wearing normal tights it's because they are willing to freeze their ***es off for the sake of fashion. Just yesterday I think I wore three layers of wool sweaters.

I'll admit to wearing tights even though there are -10 C degrees here, BUT as a layering piece. Worn with above the knee high socks and warm boots.

I second the men's flap cap… I've seen one In h&m that I want, very lumberjack-ish.
But my favourites are berets. They really come in all sorts of colours and materials.

Though some time ago I stumbled across an aviator cap-ish thing at h&m which I bought. It's rather fun I think…

I love wearing silk long underwear for winter-I don't live in a cold climate so it's SO exciting when I go somewhere for Xmas not this time alas.But it's so fun to get into layers, wear a hat and scarf,heavy woolen socks,boots.

I never have to really deal with snow or really cold weather but I am a little bit unsure of what shoes to get for New York snow. Would Vivienne Westwood Pirate boots stand up to the job or do I need something better? and will I break all of my ankles if I wear booties in the snow season?
I'm not a fan of cold feet or casts.

My winter fashion issue is that I have to walk everywhere (I do not own a car), so I never want to wear my 'nice' clothes, especially shoes. It seems as though everything gets ruined. When I'm not walking I have to take public transport, and I never want to wear my nice clothes on that either. Any suggestions for tall, skinny, flat, weatherproof, black leather boots?

Ever thought of Wellies? There are some outthere that are nice enough to wear out and they are really warm.

I've now moved to London. I own a pair of Hunter boots for the snow. I have no idea how to dress for cold weather! although i have been here for one and a half years now... I still dont have much of a winter wardrobe. I own too many summer clothes that I need to throw out - they just never get worn¬

I think it's about time to bring back this thread. It's starting to get a bit cold where I live and I'm looking forward to the winter. Anyways, my question is regarding winter boots. I have a pair of L.L. Bean wellies which I wear with a liner or with wool socks my mom knit. I love my wellies a lot but I was thinking of purchasing a pair of Bean Boots by L.L.Bean, 8'' Thinsulate's. Since where I live gets quiet snowy I'd like to have the ability to mix it up once in awhile and not always be stuck wearing my wellies. So what do you think? They aren't necessarily that fashionable but I have seen some people pull them off really well.

Get a good wool coat, cable knit sweaters, knit tights, leather or suede boots, corduroy pants, gloves and slouchy beret hats.

I suggest have a good moisturizer and chapstick, so you don't get chapped.

I don´t really care how I look, I just don´t wanna freeze
and some people have said that this winter is going to be super super cold...


Warm wool knit is must have!
It keeps warm and it is comfortable.
Also wool socks!
Ofcourse a hat.
I have never understood people who don´t wear hat when it is cold...because it makes you hair looks bad they say...

So last year was my first winter with snow and I bought a pair of brown northface boots that I absolutely love. However, this year I moved from a just cold climate to a freezing cold and windy climate and thus need a new jacket.

I am looking for a non-black (preferably army or forest green/navy/maroon/brown) jacket that I can either find or have shipped to Beijing. I haven't found anything locally feels high enough quality to justify the price and I'm afraid of spending money and still being cold. I really like the Montebello Parka from Canada Goose but it seems so expensive for a Jacket I'm only going to wear for one season a year.

Basically, I grew up on the California coast and would like some winter advice.

Anyone have recommendations for good long underwear?

All of my friends love their Uniqlo long johns. I've bought some and have not yet personally tested them through a winter but they are pretty awesome.

I swear by Kari Traa, which is a Norwegian brand. It's quite colorful though. I mostly use it for skiing, or for days that are unbearably cold.

Its always cold here in Canada in the winter, lucky for me I just bought a new winter coat from Le Chateau. I also have hot pink earmuffs that I got from Holt Renfrew.
