I've never seen Law and Order. I do know that her movie Gone Baby Gone had its release in the UK postponed because of the Madeleine McCann disappearance. I'm not actually sure when it will get here.

I've read Reservation Road is getting masses of Oscar buzz for best picture, best director and actor, but the reviews seem mediocre?

George has that old-fashioned movie star quality though. It means he tends to come across as playing variations on the same character but it doesn't mean he's not made some good movies: Out of Sight, Syriana, Ocean's 11. Just don't mention Batman & Robin. I'll see Michael Clayton pretty soon I think.

All these lists mean it's becoming easier to narrow down the Best Picture noms. No Country For Old Men is a lock. The BFCA have shown the first bit of love for Atonement. Perhaps this will do very well at the BAFTAs but get shut out Stateside?

Johnny Depp should get an Oscar (as in way before) but i don't think it'll come from Sweeney Todd.

This list probably proves why the Globes have this right and the Academy has it wrong. Best Foreign Film as opposed to Best Film in a Foreign Language means all the top contenders don't end up being disqualified by ridiculous eligibility rules.

So Atonement's done a bit better here than on the critics' lists and Jesse James isn't getting much love apart from Affleck's performance.

i think it's an extremely weak year in terms of leading women...
there were some promising roles out there (reese witherspoon in rendition, naomi watts in eastern promises, jennifer connelly in reservation road) but the movies were poorly received by critics...

i actually think cate blanchett is the front runner for best actress, with cotillard running a close second...

across the universe and juno are there because of the immense buzz surrounding them...
i can't pick up a newspaper or magazine without reading about diablo cody and juno...

there are really no surprises here except i thought i'd see casey affleck for gone baby gone and not the assassination of jesse james...

Julie Christie- hellz yes! The woman is magic... I mean, she's Al Pacino's favorite actress.

Overall, I was actually somewhat suprised by the movie nominations- the TV ones are almost always predictable.

This maybe the first year in which the Oscar and GG nominations will seriously differ. Serious lack of Into the Wild, which I still think will do well at the Oscars, and the Acadamy nominated Keira Knightley before, who will probably garner an actress nom this year.
