Oscars 2010

Sandra Bullock won...is this her first academy award? and thankgod Helen and Meryl did not win, they ahve their awards already and it feels like they are nominated every year. I tought Sandra would won but I still had hope for Carey. Maybe next year!
Congrats Sandra!

I was so hoping Carey Mulligan would've won for best actress. She SO deserved it.

Sandra Bullock for Best Actress?! Sandra Bullock? Her performance was mediocre at best. The movie was a joke; it did not create dialogue or put forward important questions. It was simply a typical Hollywood feel good movie. Rich white family take in poor black kid. Where have I heard this before?

^Agree.
I liked how Sandra said about Carey...how her talent and beauty makes her sick *hahah*

And why was Oprah on the stage? did she have something to do with precious?

Where did this movie called "The Hurtlocker" come from? I've never seen any commercials, previews, or showings at any of the theaters near me. Shouldn't the best movie of the year be more mainstream, cuz I go to movies like every two weeks lol.

^yeah, she kinda had a hand with it. If it weren't for her & tyler perry, it wouldn't have gotten that much press and information out there.

One man said that The hurt locker is the lowest money earning movie of time that won academy award of best movie!

I have to agree on all of this but her acceptance speech was so good that it made me not mind as much. Still hate the performance and the movie but what a great speech.

i was so happy the Hurt locker cleaned house. i loved loved that movie.
i can't believe Bullock won an oscar, i was more shocked than she was!

Yes, I am thrilled for Kathryn Bigelow & "The Hurt Locker" - have LOVED her since "Strange Days". Woot!!!!

What did people think of Mulligan's Prada dress?

Yes, but I don't think there were really any dramatic standout performances by a leading actress this year... so...

Hm...okay so, I'm disappointed that Avatar didn't win best picture because imo it's like the best movie EVER! I'm not too sure Sandra should have won though her acceptance speech was really nice. I'm so happy that Mo'Nique won, she totally deserved it and she's just so humble and amazing. And I hadn't heard of the Hurt Locket before today either, though I heard the director was married to James Cameron and I'm sure she is ecstatic to have beat him there, also I'm happy that a woman finally won (even if I was rooting for Avatar)

I didn't really mean mainstream, but more in the sense of how do you not hear about the best movie of a year? Whether it be from friends, news(prior to tonight), not even in a theater near me either etc.

I guess it depends what circles you move in...without sounding pretentious or silly.. but i've been reading articles on the hurt locker and hearing hype from friends for months now, and i saw it a while ago.. it hasn't been screened near me, to my knowledge, but i hang out with a lot of people who are pretty into film and i myself read quite a bit on what's out, what's good etc.. it was definitely in the news... just not small town nightly news or anything.. these things are always relative. in any case, i'm really glad that a 'lesser' known film won.. and so glad it wasn't Avatar.. :innocent:
