Goyard bags / luggage

If mine starts to peel I will take it in and want a replacement on the spot...There is no reason for something like that to happen.....Esp. as you said bagfetish, the craftsmenship and quailty of Goyard is the reason one buys a product from them.........

On the side track...White colour is sold in Paris St Honore too.

I agree, if it makes you uncomfortable, you should exchange it bagfetish..but for me, not much of a choice, the bag is not sold in my country.

;-(

I am looking forward to my first Goyard bag purchase. I have an orange card case from them and I love it. Has anyone seen the Goyard Saigon? It was in the Aug. (US) Vogue. I saw it IRL in SF and I am hoping to get one this fall. I'm just a little worried hearing about the quality issues. I hope they fix or better yet exchange your bag Bagfetish. :flower:

after reading the quality issue posts I examined my bag... after using it 4 times I also notice the paint on the leather chipping  BUT not on the handles or anywhere on the exterior. it's near the zipper inside, I guess when zipping it touches that part that shows some chipping now. everything else is fine right now... I'll try to take pics. by the way I have black leather

Anyway, I won't do anything about it and wait how the bag will hold up. If it doesn't show ridiculous wear for it's age nor fall apart I can live with it :ninja:

I'm just wondering if they use different leather/dye on the trunks since those seem to hold up well

Hmm.....I just went over my Bowing very well and so far after a week of total daily use it's in perfect shape...Even been on a flight and carried my pc and other needed items....

I guess it will only chip on areas that are exposed to certain stuff, or depends on the angle

ambidextrous, the chipping on my bag is worse..its chipping off on the piping on the sides of the bag and much more obvious unlike yours which is in a more obscure location.....I experimented by using leather paint to paint over it and it seems to have fixed the problem - it doesn't even look like anything happened to it...I decided not to ship it to SF-I'll just bring it when I visit in a couple of months.....The paint job I did worked really well, but my point is, I shouldn't have had to do that in the first place!!!

you're right, that shouldn't happen in the first place. I'm thinking of black LV Epi leather compared to this: I have a pouch with a strap on and the smooth strap leather shows no chipping at all though there's a part where it has to bend crazily (cos you make half a knot with it). it is wrinkly of course and the gold plated HW did rub off on it, but the leather itself has no chipping at all. the pouch is going to be 2 years old in 2 months...

I'm actually very curious how Goyard quality compares to LV quality like in 10 years

same here, i have a few LV epi bags and I have not had any problems with it. They're still in mint condition. The Goyard one on the other hand is a different story, it peeled the first day I used it. Maybe its the paint they use??? The peeling looks somewhat similar to yours and if I hadn't painted it, I think it would have gotten worse....Its really too bad cuz I almost got another one...

I've seen two full leather bags in the paris shop (both black), imagine what those would look like if they chipped  I agree on the paint, just wondering why some areas chip and others don't... and if those trunks' leather parts need to be replaced after every voyage or if we simply had bad luck

I still think these bags should not require any aid in not chipping!!!!! They should NOT chip.....If mine starts it's going back ASAP and I would expect a new bag on the spot if it's w/in one year of purchase. Given one can do things to ruin a bag...but just day to day use and this problem starts is unacceptable from a high end company such as Goyard, Louis V., or the like.

^I agree with you, if only Goyard stores were accessible. Its just too much trouble trying to debate on getting a replacement bag....I think overall, its a paint problem. They have to try to treat it better. Its made me really paranoid about using the bag...It is soo frustrating cuz I love the fact that its not as ubiquitous as LV but I just don't understand the peeling, perhaps its because its hand made?

I guess at the end of the day something is going to wear on a bag...With LV it's the leather turning spotty and dark....Even the lighter leathers of Hermes turns darker with time on the handles, etc...But chipping is not some inherent characteristic.......

woohoo!!! just thought I'd give everyone an update....I finally got fed up with my peeling bag so I sent it over to Goyard.....I couldn't believe it. The piping just never stopped peeling!!! Anyways, I sent it off to Goyard with a little note explaining what was going on. I also sent the receipt in case there was any doubt on how long ago the bag started having "issues". Well, the good news is they're replacing my bag. Thank goodness....that bag has been frustrating!!!!

That is exacltly what they should do bagfetish!!!!! I'm very happy to hear the good news....Let's hope it was just a "lemon" bag you had...If your next one does the same thing they should give you a refund!!!!!!

thanks gemini...i was a little miffed by the SA though because when I told her that the paint started peeling the very first day I took it out, she basically said that I deliberately peeled the paint off - which is ridiculous because no one in their right mind would do that to something they spent so much money on....besides, it wasn't like I was asking for a refund, I was just letting her know out of courtesy that their bag may have "issues". I was a little insulted but didn't feel the need to debate as they were already gonna replace it....

glad to hear bagfetish. My Jimmy Choo Ramona is having some major peelage issues on the handles but I've had it for like 6 months (even though the peeling started about 2 months ago) and i've been a bit rough on the bottom of it so I don't think they would exchange. But I just wanted to say I can empathize severly with peeling as it's annoying and makes the bag look cheap. So glad you had a good outcome

i just don't get it though....don't they have quality control?? For what you pay, there shouldn't be any issues....As much as I hate to say it, but despite its overexposure, LV holds up really well, I have many LV bags that I've had for a long time that are still in pristine condition.....
